6 And now I stand here on trial because of my hope in the promise made by God to our fathers,
7 to which our twelve tribes hope to attain, as they earnestly worship night and day. And for this hope I am accused by Jews, O king!
8 Why is it thought incredible by any of you that God raises the dead?
Paul is caught in the grips of hope...
Just like we ought to be, in the promises of God...
Hope is the position that happens when one understands and believes God...
I. Hope in God is commanded
I. Hope in God is commanded
Covenant people are told by the divine to have and keep hope...
3 O Israel, hope in the Lord from this time forth and forevermore.
Even those in high station in life are commanded to have hope in the promises of God...
17 As for the rich in this present age, charge them not to be haughty, nor to set their hopes on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who richly provides us with everything to enjoy.
The command to hope is bolstered by the infallible nature of God...
God cannot fail...
23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful.
His infallible nature is revealed to by His Word...
Scripture is our conduit to attain and sustain Hope in the Promises of God...
II. Hope in Scripture as the word of God

All those who rejoice in the Word of God have developed Hope by His revelation...
74 Those who fear you shall see me and rejoice, because I have hoped in your word.
Paul knew the scriptures that gave him hope...
He was even willing to stand trial for that hope...
6 And now I stand here on trial because of my hope in the promise made by God to our fathers,
The scripture instructs...
The scripture encourages...
The scripture builds endurance...
The scripture gives hope...
4 For whatever was written in former days was written for our instruction, that through endurance and through the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.
Hope does not shrink back with worldly obstacles and difficult times...
III. Hope in God in the face of difficulty and trial
III. Hope in God in the face of difficulty and trial
Those who follow the Lord and His Word
will have obstacles
will have difficulty
will have trials
will struggle with doubts
will despair
the human condition will persist but we must turn and always reestablish hope...
5 Why are you cast down, O my soul, and why are you in turmoil within me? Hope in God; for I shall again praise him, my salvation
He is our salvation and we shall give him glory and honor...
Hope in the Promises of God has us delivered from our trials
Delivered time and time again...
Delivered from this world even, our salvation...
10 He delivered us from such a deadly peril, and he will deliver us. On him we have set our hope that he will deliver us again.
Hope teaches us that nothing is to tough for our God...
Hope has an outcome that we can obtain and live in...
IV. The outcome of hope in God
