Introduction- Shalom

Shalom - is a precious word to the Jewish people. It means so much more than just an absence of war or distress.
Shalom means wholeness, completeness, health, security and proper prosperity. When you are enjoying God’s peace there is joy and contentment.

Not as the World gives

Christian peace is not like worldly peace. It has nothing to do with physical or emotional situations or circumstances.
The world bases its peace on resources - Christians base their peace on relationships.
For the world - money, love, education = peace
For the christian - Jesus = peace.
Ephesians 2:14 ESV
For he himself is our peace, who has made us both one and has broken down in his flesh the dividing wall of hostility
For the world - ability = peace
for the christian - adequacy = peace
2 Corinthians 3:5 ESV
Not that we are sufficient in ourselves to claim anything as coming from us, but our sufficiency is from God,
For the world - peace is something you work for.
For the christian - peace is something you receive.
John 14:27 ESV
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.
For the world - absance of trouble = peace
For the christian - peace can be found even in the midst of trouble.
John 16:33 ESV
I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”
For the world - peace depends on externals.
For the christian - peace depends on eternals.
Psalm 29:11 ESV
May the Lord give strength to his people! May the Lord bless his people with peace!
Philippians 4:7 ESV
And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

A wonderful Will and Testament

John 14:25–27 ESV
“These things I have spoken to you while I am still with you. But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you. Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.
When Christ knew he was close to leaving this world he did what all wise people do: He made His will.
To my Father I commit my Spirit
To Joseph of Aramathia I commit my body.
To John the beloved I commit my mother.
To the solders at my cross I commit my clothes
and to my Disciples, I commit my?
What would he leave His precious disciples? Not just the 12, but everyone of the multitude who would follow Him in the dispensations of time to come?
What he leave them that he called to be His witnesses? What would he leave to them whom he called to preach the Gospel? What would he leave to them who he called to be a light in the darkness? What did Jesus have that He knew his disciples would have great need of?
For Jesus it truly is a case of: “Silver and gold have I none, but such as I have I give to you:
The answer is found in
John 14:27 ESV
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.

John 14:26 ESV
But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.

Wonderful Peace

jn
John 14:25–27 ESV
“These things I have spoken to you while I am still with you. But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you. Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.

Not just Peace, but my Peace

This is true Shalom peace - peace with God, peace with one another, peace in our selves and a tranquility of mind that arises from our justification before God.It is the offspring of our forgiveness.
This is the peace He purchased, it is the peace that Angels sang about.
Luke 2:14 ESV
“Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased!”

It is Actual Peace

By this i mean that it is not peace in greeting but in living. It is a peace that cannot be stolen by man because it was not given by man.It is a supernatural peace.
Philippians 4:7 ESV
And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Your understanding in the natural realm, this mean surpasses the natural into the supernatural. Because it is supernatural receiving it requires faith.
There is a surpassing nature to this peace. Superior, higher.
Romans 5:1 ESV
Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.
By faith we have peace.
Faith in Jesus - Faith that he is the only begotten of the father. Faith That he died for our sins. Faith that he rose from the grave. Faith that he ascended into Heaven and is seated at the right hand of the father. Faith that everyone of `his promises is true. Faith that he poured out his spirit on His Church. Faith that our names are written in the lambs book of life.
Faith. faith. Faith.
Hebrews 11:6 ESV
And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.
How?
By spending time with God. Learning the faithfulness of his character.
Romans 10:17 ESV
So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.
