Membership agreement.
Our commitments to one another in the sight of God
The basis of our joining together as members of First Baptist Church of Roselawn is our salvation and the resulting relationship with God the Father accomplished by the work of His son, Jesus Christ, and applied by His Holy Spirit.
Affirmation of this agreement does not imply that you will never fall short of meeting its expectations. Affirmation of this agreement means that it is the inclination of your heart to meet its expectations to the best of your ability dependent on God‘s grace.
(Sign/date).
And so, as a member of First Baptist Church of Roselawn, by the help & of the empowerment of the Holy Spirit, I will joyfully join together with the other members of this church and will make the following commitments:
I will worship the Lord, both privately and corporately, by rejoicing in His grace and giving thanks to the Father for the sacrifice of His Son, Jesus, and for the benefits that that sacrifice purchased, especially forgiveness of sins and eternal life, and for the gift of the Holy Spirit who empowers us to believe and live a life that glorifies God.
I will devote myself to the study of scripture and prayer both privately and in group contexts.
I will submit to the authority of the Scriptures as the final arbiter in all issues.
I will devote myself to growth in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, through seeking to become more Christ – like as I apply the Scriptures to my life.
I will live together with my brothers and sisters in love and will seek only there good, by establishing relationships that promote holiness & discipleship.
I will be vigilant to guard the welfare and joy of my brothers and sisters, admonishing anyone who’s practice of sin requires it.
And I will humbly receive admonishment from my brothers and sisters when my sin requires it.
I will support the churches doctrine and practice of church discipline.
I will care for my brothers and sisters in Christ as needs arise. And
I will strive to use my spiritual gift(S) for the building up of First Baptist Church of Roselawn.
I will be diligent to preserve the unity of the church. Therefore, I will support the statement of faith of First Baptist Church Roselawn and not be divisive.
I will affirm the leadership that God has appointed. And I will reject all opportunities to hear or speak gossip and slander.
I will serve the church is ministries & mission by regularly and sacrificially and cheerfully giving of my time, gifts, and finances.
I will seek to spread the glory of God by proclaiming the gospel, both in word and deed, to those within my sphere of influence who do not yet believe.
I will actively seek regular biblical fellowship with my brothers and sisters, not neglecting to meet together with them in corporate worship and in small groups.
I will, if I move from this place, unite with some other church where I can carry out the spirit of this agreement and follow the teaching of God’s word.
