o Householder = God
o Vineyard = Jerusalem
o Tenants = Israel’s leaders
o Servants = OT Prophets persecuted for warning Israel of its sins
o Son = Jesus
o Other Tenants = New Covenant Kingdom for the Church

o Jesus is the stone rejected by the Jewish leaders
Fruitfulness
Wine in Hebrew means, blood of the grape. Where do grapes come from? Vineyards. Why does Jesus refer to vineyards so often? Because we are Eucharistic people. We are people we need to be in communion with God.
Death and destruction leads to mission.
Why are we on mission? To proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Will people reject us? Yes. Will people welcome us? Yes. Count it pure joy when in those situations you are persecuted for your faith.
There has never been a time when it is ideal to preach the gospel. If you are waiting for ideal then you will be waiting forever. Now is the time that God has called you out into this mission, out into this vineyard, to collect, harvest, care for what has been planted by him.
Letter to the Philippians is an invitation to continue on the path of righteousness. What are you worried about? Lots of things we worry about but they do us no good. Worry about nothing but pray about everything. In that prayer turn it over to the Lord, recognize the Lord as a friend, as one to speak to about your problems.
