Welcome to the House Party

Welcome/Greet/Recap

You are witnesses of these things. 49 I am going to send you what my Father has promised; but stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high.”

4 Gathering them together, He commanded them not to leave Jerusalem, but to wait for bwhat the Father had promised, “Which,” He said, “you heard of from Me;

5 for John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit bnot many days from now.”

but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth.”

1 When the day of Pentecost had come, they were all together in one place.

2 And suddenly there came from heaven a noise like a violent rushing wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting.

3 And there appeared to them tongues as of fire distributing themselves, and they rested on each one of them.

4 And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit was giving them utterance.

41 So then, those who had received his word were baptized; and that day there were added about three thousand asouls.

47 praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord was adding to their number day by day those who were being saved.

41 So then, those who had received his word were baptized; and that day there were added about three thousand asouls

hvk,

41 So then, those who had received his word were baptized; and that day there were added about three thousand asouls.

41 So then, those who had received his word were baptized; and that day there were added about three thousand asouls.

So Im going to need y’all to be patient with me tonight Because before we can apply what God has for us we must lay down some solid Context for what we just read. So Please stay with me and I promise God is about to have his way in this place, but we’ll also have some fun on the way! Y’all Ready!!!
The Gospel that we just read from. Was the book of Luke before we even dive deeper into the Text we need to have a generic understanding of the Gospels. We have 4 of Them We have Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. The first 3 books are what is known as the synoptic Gospels. All that really means is that within these books you find very similar stories and encounters with Jesus. The book of John does have a lot of things in common with these but is set apart as well because of the way that he wrote and the perspective that he brought, being known as the one whom Jesus Loved . But even within certain similarities these books are specifically written for a certain Audience. The book of Matthew is understood to be directed towards Jews mostly because he was a Jew and his perspective was to Portray Jesus as King of the Jews also known as the Messiah So that they could Under stand that Jesus was that which was prophesied about That he would be the one to bring Gods people Out of oppression. The Book of Mark is known to be out of Rome but for all people, Portrayed Jesus as a Servant, it is also the most action packed Gospel in comparison to the rest. So now we are here in the book of Luke and Luke is a Anthiochian by race and a physician by profession. Luke is understood to be the Author of Both Luke and Acts by many Theologians which will explain the reason why they are written so similarly and addressed to the same People.
So now we see here that the scene at the End of Luke’s book is the very same as The beginning of the Book of Acts. We now run into Jesus after Passover, his trial, Death and resurrection and catch him right before he ascends to heaven, and he as 1 final message for the crowd that was around. It is believed to be about 300 people that were there to witness him going back to heaven. And he talks to them about them beginning to apply all the things that they had heard over the past 3 years, and tells them in the book of Matthew to go make disciples, and then starts to Talk about the promised Holy Spirit, Jesus tells them that it is better that he would go, so that Holy Spirit would come, and he goes on to say that the holy spirit is a part of him. For the Bible declares that the very same Spirit that raised Jesus from the Grave lives inside of You. So God in his Infinite wisdom understood that if Jesus was going to leave then there was going to have to be a transaction that took place. So this is what in my mind happened God was like Im goin to take my son back but through my son all of these people are my sons and daughters so ill do for them what I did for him and put this spirit inside of them. Whew so now God has just done a miraculous thing He multiplied Jesus. So now we don’t just say what Jesus said, but now we can do as Jesus did. Don’t get it twisted this is exactly the same relationship That Jesus had with his Father. Therefore Jesus answered and was saying to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, unless it is something He sees the Father doing; for whatever the Father does, these things the Son also does in like manner. 20 “For the Father loves the Son, and shows Him all things that He Himself is doing; and the Father will show Him greater works than these, so that you will marvel. 21 “For just as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, even so the Son also gives life to whom He wishes. So just as Jesus follows the father we must follow Jesus.
Therefore Jesus answered and was saying to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, unless it is something He sees the Father doing; for whatever the Father does, these things the Son also does in like manner.
So as we look back at the beginning of our main texts Jesus is about to leave earth, and the last thing that he says is “to wait” some versions say tarry in Jerusalem until the Holy Spirit comes and endows you with Power, Keep tabs on that word “Power” we’ll talk about that in second. But I got a problem with Jesus at this moment with what he’s saying, cuz to me he just said a cuss word haha. That man just said wait. WHAAAAAAATTT? Let me ask y’all this How many of you don’t like to wait?
I mean he’s asking me to do the very thing I have to do at my Least favorite Place. The DMV O My Gosh I hate the DMV. Like its making me mad thinking about it right now. Like They make you sit there For what to me feels like Eternity Forever and Ever and Ever and Ever and Ever all this for a small little card like it don’t make no sense to me. You know what I got this amazing idea for the DMV Y’all know the DMV needs they need a drive through like thats a Million Dollar Idea y’all. Yup thats it Im gonna make that happen and all the proceeds will go back to yall because I thought of It here. Like Come on lets keep it 100 in here God is asking for a Microwaved generation to wait on him a generation that cant even wait at a fast food restaurant drive through line for 2 min. with out trippin. Yet this is exactly what God was asking them to do was to wait. Heres why because in all reality waiting for something usually means the thing on the other side was worth the wait. I want to prophecy this to you tonight. That the fulfillment of your promise, the fulfillment of your Breakthrough, the fulfillment of your Miracle, the fulfillment of your Healing, the fulfillment of your family or friends that you want to get saved, or anything else you desire from God is on the other side of you waiting! For those who wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength, they mount upon wings like eagles, they shall run not a grow weary, they shall walk and not be faint.
James
Its not a coincidence that the precursor that
20 “For the Father loves the Son, and shows Him all things that He Himself is doing; and the Father will show Him greater works than these, so that you will marvel.
21 “For just as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, even so the Son also gives life to whom He wishes.
