Discussion and Application Questions
Knowing God Personally, has a transforming effect on a person spiritually and morally and makes that person bold in actions for God.
Not knowing God in the present will result in dissatisfaction and degeneration into wickedness and in the future will bring eternal alienation from Him.
Paul prays that the Christians in Ephesus will know and follow Christ with wisdom and power.
Paul prays that the Christians in Ephesus will know and follow Christ with wisdom and power.
Jesus teaches that at his coming he will separate nations as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. (.) In this parable whom do the sheep represent? (.) Whom do the goats represent? (, .)
says, “He is our God. We are the sheep belonging to His flock. We are the people He takes good care of. Listen to His voice today.”
The sheep in this analogy represent genuine followers of Jesus (compare 9:36; 10:6; 15:24; 18:12; 26:31). They are the righteous ones (v. 37). The goats are the wicked, as well as those who may have thought themselves righteous but turn out not to be genuine followers of Jesus (vv. 41, 44–45)

(NKJV)
31“When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the holy angels with Him, then He will sit on the throne of His glory.
32 All the nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate them one from another, as a shepherd divides his sheep from the goats.
33 And He will set the sheep on His right hand, but the goats on the left.
34 Then the King will say to those on His right hand, ‘Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:
35 for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in;
36 I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.’
37“Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink?
38 When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or naked and clothe You?
39 Or when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?’
40 And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.’
41“Then He will also say to those on the left hand, ‘Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels:
42 for I was hungry and you gave Me no food; I was thirsty and you gave Me no drink;
43 I was a stranger and you did not take Me in, naked and you did not clothe Me, sick and in prison and you did not visit Me.’
44“Then they also will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to You?’
45 Then He will answer them, saying, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to Me.’
46 And these will go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.”
Ephesians 1:15-23
16 do not cease to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers:
that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him,
the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints,
22 And He put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be head over all things to the church, 23 which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all.

Jesus teaches that at his coming he will separate nations as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. (.) In this parable whom do the sheep represent? (.) Whom do the goats represent? (, .) Why will Jesus be separating the sheep from the goats? What is the main difference between the sheep and the goats? What did Jesus mean when he said that those on his right hand had fed him, clothed him, and so on? (.) Who are “the least of these my brethren”? What kind of service did the righteous give? (.) What are we required to do to be counted among the Lord’s sheep? Help the children think of ways they can perform such acts of service. Share examples of service you have observed, and invite the children to share examples they have seen. What will be our reward if we serve others? (, .) What will happen to those who do not serve others? (, .) Whom should we serve? Whom do we know who could be helped by our service? (; see also Mosiah 4:16.) (See enrichment activity 1.) How did Jesus serve others? (Review some of the scripture accounts of Jesus healing the sick, blessing the children, feeding the 5,000, and so on. Emphasize the love Jesus showed for people as he did these things.) How can his example of serving others help you? How can we bless others by our service? How has serving another person blessed you? How does giving service to others make you feel? How do you feel about those you serve?
