SOME THINGS FOR WHICH WE SHOULD THANK GOD
SOME THINGS FOR WHICH WE SHOULD THANK GOD
Lamatations 22–26
Read: vv.
22–26
“It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.
They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.”
INTRODUCTION: Just why we fail to thank God more than we do might be discovered in the words of Jesus: “How can ye believe, which receive honor one from another, and seek not the honor that cometh from God only?” ().
Paul has it right: “God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ” ().
In our pursuit of life, liberty, and happiness, we are prone to give our own cleverness more credit than it deserves.
This fact remains, however, that God is “upholding all things by the word of His power,” and “in him we live, and move, and have our being” (; ).
Thanks be to God, for He is still with us!
THIS TEXT REVEALS AT LEAST FOUR THINGS ABOUT GOD:
1. God is not a merciless tyrant as some people imply.
2. God shows mercy beyond what mankind deserves.
3. God is not slothful in His mercy—“renewed” daily.
4. God’s faithfulness exceeds man’s comprehension.
WE SHOULD THANK GOD FOR HIS GREAT MERCY.
1. “He hath not dealt with us after our sins,” .
2. God is more merciful than mankind is, .
3. God has mercy on ignorance, .
4. For God’s “grace … upon me,” .
WE SHOULD BE THANKFUL FOR GOD’S GREAT FAITHFULNESS.

For the faithfulness of His love, .
2. For the faithfulness of His Word, .

The best way to say “thanks” to God is through loyal service to Him.
