The Wall Street Journal published an article called Redefining God.

God has revealed Himself in the Scriptures as the supreme being and creator of the universe.

"Across the country the faithful are redefining God, dissatisfied with conventional images of an authoritarian or paternalistic deity.”

“People are embracing quirky, individualistic conceptions of God to suit their own spiritual needs."

God has revealed Himself in the Scriptures as the supreme being and creator of the universe.”
TOZAR Said,

“It's not a cheerful thought that millions of us who live in a land of Bibles, who belong to churches and labor to promote the Christian religion,

may yet pass our whole life on this earth without once having thought or tried to think seriously about the being of God.”

1 Timothy 1:17 ESV
17 To the King of the ages, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen.
a too heavy price in the secularization of our religion and the decay of our inner lives.
1 Timothy 1:17 ESV
To the King of the ages, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen.

God is independent which means He doesn’t need anyone for anything.

Acts 17:24–25 ESV
24 The God who made the world and everything in it, being Lord of heaven and earth, does not live in temples made by man, 25 nor is he served by human hands, as though he needed anything, since he himself gives to all mankind life and breath and everything.
Acts 17:24–25 ESV
24 The God who made the world and everything in it, being Lord of heaven and earth, does not live in temples made by man, 25 nor is he served by human hands, as though he needed anything, since he himself gives to all mankind life and breath and everything.

Let me put this very clearly To be God is to be self-sufficient. - God doesn’t need me but I need Him.
God has never sung “I need you every hour”

God is eternal which means He has no beginning or end.

Psalm 90:2 ESV
2 Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever you had formed the earth and the world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God.
Psalm 90:2 ESV
Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever you had formed the earth and the world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God.
Revelation 1:8 ESV
8 “I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.”
Revelation 1:8 ESV
“I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.”
Daniel Refers to God as the Ancient of Days.
Our God has no beginning or end!
There is no one like our God.

God is immutable which means He does not change.

You Cannot Step Into the Same River Twice. Heraclitus

Malachi 3:6 ESV
“For I the Lord do not change; therefore you, O children of Jacob, are not consumed.
Psalm 102:5–7 ESV
Because of my loud groaning my bones cling to my flesh. I am like a desert owl of the wilderness, like an owl of the waste places; I lie awake; I am like a lonely sparrow on the housetop.
Is the fact that God dosn’t change a big deal? Yes!
Again this means there is no one like our God!
You are sustained by God’s unchanging presence.

God is omnipotent which means that there are no limits to His power.

Remember the story of Abraham and Sarah before Issac?
Genesis 18:10–14 ESV
10 The Lord said, “I will surely return to you about this time next year, and Sarah your wife shall have a son.” And Sarah was listening at the tent door behind him. 11 Now Abraham and Sarah were old, advanced in years. The way of women had ceased to be with Sarah. 12 So Sarah laughed to herself, saying, “After I am worn out, and my lord is old, shall I have pleasure?” 13 The Lord said to Abraham, “Why did Sarah laugh and say, ‘Shall I indeed bear a child, now that I am old?’ 14 Is anything too hard for the Lord? At the appointed time I will return to you, about this time next year, and Sarah shall have a son.”
10-14

God is omnipotent which means that there are no limits to His power.

Pay Attention - to the word God Almighty
Genesis 17:1 ESV
1 When Abram was ninety-nine years old the Lord appeared to Abram and said to him, “I am God Almighty; walk before me, and be blameless,
Genesis 18:10–14 ESV

El Shaddai - God Almighty

— God is greater than your sin, God is greater than your sickness, God is greater than your pain and your problem!

God is omniscient which means He knows all things.

Psalm 147:5 ESV
5 Great is our Lord, and abundant in power; his understanding is beyond measure.
33
Romans 11:33 ESV
33 Oh, the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are his judgments and how inscrutable his ways!
Psalm 147:5 ESV
5 Great is our Lord, and abundant in power; his understanding is beyond measure.

Romans 11:33 ESV
33 Oh, the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are his judgments and how inscrutable his ways!
God is the real Know it All!
I can fool you and you can fool me but we can never fool Him.
Application
Our God is not only aware of your actions but is completely cognizant of the motivations behind those actions. So We need to live our lives in light of God’s perfect knowledge. No kingdom thing gets overlooked and no evil thing goes unnoticed.

God is omnipresent which means God who is a spiritual being and does not have size or dimensions is always fully present.

John 4:24 ESV
24 God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.”
Jeremiah 23:23–24 ESV
23 “Am I a God at hand, declares the Lord, and not a God far away? 24 Can a man hide himself in secret places so that I cannot see him? declares the Lord. Do I not fill heaven and earth? declares the Lord.
John 4:24 ESV
24 God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.”
God does not have size or spatial dimensions and is present at every point of space with his whole being
Jeremiah 23:23–24 ESV
23 “Am I a God at hand, declares the Lord, and not a God far away? 24 Can a man hide himself in secret places so that I cannot see him? declares the Lord. Do I not fill heaven and earth? declares the Lord.
You and I can’t keep our distance from God. God doesn’t heed no trespassing signs. You can’t pull the blinds and and shut the door so as to keep God out! It just doesn’t work that way.
When you are alone you are never all alone!

God is Sovereign which means God rules over all things in heaven and on earth.

Daniel 4:35 ESV
35 all the inhabitants of the earth are accounted as nothing, and he does according to his will among the host of heaven and among the inhabitants of the earth; and none can stay his hand or say to him, “What have you done?”

Psalm 135:6 ESV
6 Whatever the Lord pleases, he does, in heaven and on earth, in the seas and all deeps.
35
Isaiah 6:1 ESV
1 In the year that King Uzziah died I saw the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up; and the train of his robe filled the temple.
The Word Lord is Adonai which means master. God has ownership, lordship, over all things. This really emphasizes His sovereignty.
God is in charge! He is king!

God is Good which means He interacts with Creation in perfect purity of character.

Mark 10:18 ESV
18 And Jesus said to him, “Why do you call me good? No one is good except God alone.
Mark 10:18 ESV
18 And Jesus said to him, “Why do you call me good? No one is good except God alone.
The goodness of God places Him in a category all to Himself.

This is the only Characteristic of God raised to the third degree.
It marks the essence of Who God is and also His settled expectation of His people.
Just - God rules his kingdom and administrates in such a way that conformity to the law is ultimately achieved.

Romans 12:19 ESV

Love - God’s nature is love.

1 John 4:8 ESV
8 Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love.

Application
Casual Worship is Not Acceptable
Casual worship is no longer possible. You can't worship this God without affection. You can't worship this God without deep emotion. If you know God truly, you will love God deeply. How can you know this God, and not feel for this God? How can you know this God, but when you worship, look like you are bored to tears? It doesn't make sense. Casual worship is no longer possible when you know this God.
