The True Meaning of Christmas
The True Meaning of Christmas
When we look at nativity scenes, whom do we see in the manger?
While Christmas as a celebration is not referred in the Bible, what the Scriptures tell us about the birth of Christ gives those who truly believe in Him every reason to celebration.
According to The prophet Isaiah, we should see God. God said him, “ … the virgin shall bear a son, and call Him Immanuel. In Hebrew, that means, God with us.
The prophet Isaiah said it this way.
Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.
Immanuel is the Hebrew way of saying, God with us.
Later, the angel of the Lord reminded Joseph of that, tellikng him not to fear to take Mary as his wife. They were to name the baby -Jesus/Joshua - Jehovah/Yahweh/God is salvation.
Dovetailing with that, the angel Gabriel had told Mary, the child born to her would be called holy - the Son of God. The Son of God is God.
And the angel answered her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; therefore the child to be born will be called holy—the Son of God.

Remembering what God said to Isaiah and what the angels said to Joseph and Mary, Christ is much more than a baby, He is God.
The baby in the manger was/is:.
God in human flesh
God with us- Immanuel
God our salvation - Jesus.
We understand that. Looking at baby pictures we see the adult. Why not Christ?
The hymn writer expressed it beautifully and accurately, “God with man is now residing.”
That’s the true meaning of Christmas.
