Understanding First Fruit Offering
Understanding First Fruit Offering
KJV
And it shall be, when thou art come in unto the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee for an inheritance, and possessest it, and dwellest therein; That thou shalt take of the first of all the fruit of the earth, which thou shalt bring of thy land that the Lord thy God giveth thee, and shalt put it in a basket, and shalt go unto the place which the Lord thy God shall choose to place his name there. And thou shalt go unto the priest that shall be in those days, and say unto him, I profess this day unto the Lord thy God, that I am come unto the country which the Lord sware unto our fathers for to give us.
And to bring the firstfruit of our ground , and the firstfruits of all the fruits of all the trees, year by year, unto the house of the Lord. Also the firstborn of our sons, and of our cattle, as it is written in the law, and the firstlings of our herds and of our flocks, to bring to the house of God, unto the priests that minister in the house of our God. And that we should bring the firstfruit of our dough, and our offerings, and the fruit of all manner of trees, of wine and oil, unto the priest, to the chambers of the house of our God; and the tithes of our ground unto the Levites, that the same Levites might have the tithes in all the cities of our tillage. And the priest, the son of Aaron shall be with the Levites, when the Levites take the tithes; and the Levites shall bring up the tithes of the tithes unto the house of the our God, to the chambers, into the treasure house.
The difference between First Fruit and Tithes
FIRST FRUIT defined:
RESHIYTH: (ray-sheeth) Which means first in place, in time, the first in order, first in rank. It also means the beginning, the first, the principal thing, the captain, the chief, the excellent, the forefront, ruler, top and summit
BIKKURIM: It means the promise to com. It shares the same root word BEKHOR, which means first-born. And the word YOBIKKURIM in Hebrew is the festival of harvest where first fruit offering was taken.
TITHE defined:
DEKATE: Which means tithe or ten percent.
MAASAR: it means the tenth part of it
CHEREM: meaning is the accursed thing and also spoils to the deity. it also means something devoted to God for destruction
THE PURPOSE OF FIRST FRUIT:
Is setting the whole year for a daily blessing
To establish trust that God will show up in a time of need
First Fruit is a sacrifice and tithing is obedience to God’s word
First Fruit is a choice, you give it as you see fit, it is a level of maturity; while the tithe is enforced as a commitment (or tax - it takes care of the gather place the Church, the pastors) you give it even when you are one day old in the Lord.
