Mary Visits Elisabeth
God carefully chose the parents of John the Baptist. Through the proper parents and training, God would use John to lead many people to Christ. Zacharias had prayed that he and Elisabeth would have a son, just as Abraham had prayed that he and Sarah would have a son. With Mary, it was quite different—she was a virgin. Christ’s conception would be miraculous. Mary accepts this, and becomes the mother of Jesus.

Mary was a good woman. She was chosen of God. She was not perfect. She, like all people (), was born a sinner. To say otherwise would be unscriptural.

Mary is an excellent example of dedication, purity, and humility. She had a love for God’s Word. She was obedient to the Lord. Because she loved God, she knew it was God’s will that she be the mother of Jesus. This caused her to praise the Lord. Knowing God’s Word, and obeying it, produces praise.
