The law no longer has power or authority over our lives.
The law no longer has power or authority over our lives.
The law no longer has power or authority over our lives.
The law is no longer our master.
The law is no longer our master.
The sin nature has lost it’s power over our lives.
We have changed masters, we are now under grace, which simply means God's undeserved favor.
We have changed masters, we are now under grace, which simply means God's undeserved favor.
We have changed masters, we are now under grace, which simply means God's undeserved favor.
The law no longer has power or authority over our lives.

So Paul begins this chapter with another question.
So Paul begins this chapter with another question.
So Paul begins this chapter with another question.
In chapter six, Paul was answering questions about people who thought God's grace allowed them to sin all they want.
In chapter six, Paul was answering questions about people who thought God's grace allowed them to sin all they want.
In chapter six, Paul was answering questions about people who thought God's grace allowed them to sin all they want.
So Paul begins this chapter with another question.
So Paul begins this chapter with another question.
So Paul begins this chapter with another question.
Here in chapter seven, Paul is going to ask questions about people who thought they still needed to keep the law to please God.
Here in chapter seven, Paul is going to ask questions about people who thought they still needed to keep the law to please God.
In chapter six, Paul was answering questions about people who thought God's grace allowed them to sin all they want.

In chapter six, Paul was answering questions about people who thought God's grace allowed them to sin all they want.
Here in chapter seven, Paul is going to ask questions about people who thought they still needed to keep the law to please God.
He was asking if God’s grace allows us to sin all we want.
So Paul is going to give us an illustration to explain what our relationship God's law is.
So Paul is going to give us an illustration to explain what our relationship God's law is.
So Paul is going to give us an illustration to explain what our relationship God's law is.
Here in chapter seven, Paul is going to ask questions about people who thought they still needed to keep the law to please God.
Here in chapter seven, Paul is now going to ask questions about the law.
Here in chapter seven, Paul is going to ask questions about people who thought they still needed to keep the law to please God.
Paul is really going to deal with the issue of legalism.
“We might be saved by grace, but don’t we still need to keep the law to please God?”
Paul is going to deal with this idea here.
So Paul is going to give us an illustration to explain what our relationship God's law is.
So he starts out by saying, I'm speaking to you now who know the law.
So he starts out by saying, I'm speaking to you now who know the law.
So Paul is going to give us an illustration to explain what our relationship God's law is.
So he starts out by saying, I'm speaking to you now who know the law.
So Paul is going to start this chapter with an illustration to explain what our relationship God's law is.
And here, the law that Paul is talking about is the "civil law"
So he starts out by saying, I'm speaking to you now who know the law.
So he starts out by saying, I'm speaking to you now who know the law.
And here, the law that Paul is talking about is the "civil law"
So he starts out by saying, I'm speaking to you now who know the law.
And here, the law that Paul is talking about is the "civil law"
He's talking about man-made laws.
And let me just point out that here, the law Paul is talking about is the "civil law"
And here, the law that Paul is talking about is the "civil law"
And here, the law that Paul is talking about is the "civil law"
He's talking about man-made laws.
He's talking about man-made laws.
He's talking about man-made laws.
He's talking about man-made laws.
Paul is saying here, "I'm speaking to you who understand the concept of law."
Paul is saying here, "I'm speaking to you who understand the concept of law."
Paul is saying here, "I'm speaking to you who understand the concept of law."
He's talking about man-made laws.
This would be everybody, not just Jews.
This would be everybody, not just Jews.
Paul is saying here, "I'm speaking to you who understand the concept of law."
This would be everybody, not just Jews.
Paul is saying here, "I'm speaking to you who understand the concept of law."
Paul is saying here, "I'm speaking to you who understand the concept of law."
Remember, Paul is writing to the church in Rome, which consisted of both Jews and Gentiles.
This would be everybody, not just Jews.
Remember, Paul is writing to the church in Rome, which consisted of both Jews and Gentiles.
Remember, Paul is writing to the church in Rome, which consisted of both Jews and Gentiles.
This would be everybody, not just Jews.
This would be everybody, not just Jews.
Remember, Paul is writing to the church in Rome, which consisted of both Jews and Gentiles.
Remember, Paul is writing to the church in Rome, which consisted of both Jews and Gentiles.
It didn't matter which "civil" laws they were under, Paul's illustration is going to apply to both groups.
It didn't matter which "civil" laws they were under, Paul's illustration is going to apply to both groups.
Remember, Paul is writing to the church in Rome, which consisted of both Jews and Gentiles.
It didn't matter which "civil" laws they were under, Paul's illustration is going to apply to both groups.
And I think it most cultures, it still applies today.
And I think it most cultures, it still applies today.
And I think it most cultures, it still applies today.
It didn't matter which "civil" laws they were under, Paul's illustration is going to apply to both groups.
It didn't matter which "civil" laws they were under, Paul's illustration is going to apply to both groups.
It didn't matter which "civil" laws they were under, Paul's illustration is going to apply to both groups.
He's saying, you who understand the law, don't you know that the law constrains you until you die?
He's saying, you who understand the law, don't you know that the law constrains you until you die?
And I think it most cultures, it still applies today.
He's saying, you who understand the law, don't you know that the law constrains you until you die?
And I think it most cultures, it still applies today.
And I think it most cultures, it still applies today.
He's saying, you who understand the law, don't you know that the law constrains you until you die?
Don't you know that you are under it's authority for the rest of your life?
He's saying, you who understand the law, don't you know that the law constrains you until you die?
He's saying, you who understand the law, don't you know that the law constrains you until you die?
Don't you know that you are under it's authority for the rest of your life?
Don't you know that you are under it's authority for the rest of your life?
Then to give an example, Paul is going to bring up the laws of marriage.
Then to give an example, Paul is going to bring up the laws of marriage.
Don't you know that you are under it's authority for the rest of your life?
Don't you know that you are under the law’s authority for the rest of your life?
Don't you know that you are under it's authority for the rest of your life?
Then to give an example, Paul is going to bring up the laws of marriage.
Paul says that married women are bound or united to their husbands for as long as they are alive.
Then to give an example, Paul is going to bring up the law of marriage.
Paul says that married women are bound or united to their husbands for as long as they are alive.
Then to give an example, Paul is going to bring up the laws of marriage.
Then to give an example, Paul is going to bring up the laws of marriage.
Paul says that married women are bound or united to their husbands for as long as they are alive.
Now we could spend some time talking about how God views marriage and divorce.
Now we could spend some time talking about how God views marriage and divorce.
Paul says that married women are bound or united to their husbands for as long as they are alive.
Paul says that married women are bound or united to their husbands for as long as they are alive.
Paul says that married women are bound or united to their husbands for as long as they are alive.
Now we could spend some time talking about how God views marriage and divorce.
But that is not Paul's purpose in these verses.
But that is not Paul's purpose in these verses.
Now we could spend some time talking about how God views marriage and divorce.
Now we could spend some time talking about how God views marriage and divorce.
Now we could spend some time talking about how God views marriage and divorce.
But that is not Paul's purpose in these verses.
Paul is just saying that the law legally unites men and women.
Paul is just saying that the law legally unites men and women.
Paul is just saying that the law legally unites men and women.
But that is not Paul's purpose in these verses.
But that is not Paul's purpose in these verses.
But that is not Paul's purpose in these verses.
And without sin being involved, the only way they can legally separate is through death.
Paul is just saying that the law legally unites men and women.
And without sin being involved, the only way they can legally separate is through death.
Paul is just saying that the law legally unites men and women.
And without sin being involved, the only way they can legally separate is through death.
Paul is just saying that the law legally unites men and women.
And without sin being involved, the only way they can legally separate is through death.
In Paul's illustration, the husband needs to die in order for the wife to be free.
In Paul's illustration, the husband needs to die in order for the wife to be free.
And without sin being involved, the only way they can legally separate is through death.
In Paul's illustration, the husband needs to die in order for the wife to be free.
And without sin being involved, the only way they can legally separate is through death.
So in this illustration, Paul is comparing us to the wife.
So in this illustration, Paul is comparing us to the wife.
So in this illustration, Paul is comparing us to the wife.
In Paul's illustration, the husband needs to die in order for the wife to be free.
In Paul's illustration, the husband needs to die in order for the wife to be free.
In Paul's illustration, the husband needs to die in order for the wife to be free.
And the law to the husband.
So in this illustration, Paul is comparing us to the wife.
And the law to the husband.
So in this illustration, Paul is comparing us to the wife.
And the law to the husband.
So in this illustration, Paul is comparing us to the wife.
And the law to the husband.
And the law to the husband.
Paul is basically saying that in order for us to be truly free, the law needs to die.
Paul is basically saying that in order for us to be truly free, the law needs to die.
Paul is basically saying that in order for us to be truly free, the law needs to die.
And the law to the husband.
But there is a big problem with that.
But there is a big problem with that.
Paul is basically saying that in order for us to be truly free, the law needs to die.
But there is a big problem with that.
Paul is basically saying that in order for us to be truly free, the law needs to die.
Paul is basically saying that in order for us to be truly free, the law needs to die.
The only way, our sin nature can escape judgment is through death.
In this case, the death of the law.
There is a problem that Paul wants us to see in these verses.
But there is a big problem with that.
But there is a big problem with this.
There is a problem that Paul wants us to see in these verses.
There is a problem that Paul wants us to see in these verses.
But there is a big problem with that.
There is a problem that Paul wants us to see in these verses.
The law doesn't die.
There is a problem that Paul wants us to see in these verses.
There is a problem that Paul wants us to see in these verses.
The law doesn't die.
The law doesn't die.
Let me repeat that, the law doesn't die.
Let me repeat that, the law doesn't die.
The law doesn't die.
The law doesn't die.
The law doesn't die.
Let me repeat that, the law doesn't die.
So if the wife can only be free if the husband dies
Let me repeat that, the law doesn't die.
So if the wife can only be free if the husband dies
Let me repeat that, the law doesn't die.
Let me repeat that, the law doesn't die.
So if the wife can only be free if the husband dies
It’s not going anywhere.
And the husband, represented by the law, cannot die,
So if the wife can only be free if the husband dies
So if the wife can only be free if the husband dies
And the husband, represented by the law, cannot die,
And the husband, represented by the law, cannot die,
So if the wife can only be free if the husband dies
And the husband, represented by the law, cannot die,
And the husband, represented by the law, cannot die,
How is she to be free?
How is she to be free?
And the husband, represented by the law, cannot die,
How is she to be free?
How is she to be free?
There's only one other possible solution.
How is she to be free?
There's only one other possible solution.

Something miraculous has to take place.

Through Jesus Christ, we died TO the law.
Paul says that YOU also have died
We are the ones who died.
Through Jesus Christ, we died TO the law.
Through Jesus Christ, we died TO the law.
We are the ones who died.
Through Jesus Christ, we died TO the law.

And God has miraculously raised us from the dead, so that we are free to be united to another.
We died to the binding that the law had over us.
And God has miraculously raised us from the dead, so that we are free to be united to another.
So then how are we, like the wife, to remarry if we are dead?
So that we might in fact be permanently united to the Lord Jesus Christ.
So that we might in fact be permanently united to the Lord Jesus Christ.
And God has miraculously raised us from the dead, so that we are free to be united to another.
And God has miraculously raised us from the dead, so that we are free to be united to another.
Resurrection
So that we might in fact be permanently united to the Lord Jesus Christ.
Resurrection from the dead.
God has miraculously raised us up spiritually from the dead.
Why?
So that we might be married, or united to something other than the Law.
So that we might in fact be permanently united to the Lord Jesus Christ.
And why has God done that my friends?
So that we might in fact be permanently united to the Lord Jesus Christ.
And why has God done that my friends?
So that we might in fact be permanently united to the Lord Jesus Christ.
And why has God done that my friends?
And if Christ has been raised from the dead and will never die again.
We also have been raised and will never die again.
We are forever united to the Lord Jesus Christ.

It means the apparently, there was a time in Paul’s life when he did not have a consciousness of sin.
Paul himself is saying that there was a time when he did not understand the moral demands of the law.
And because of this, he wasn't aware of just how sinful he really was.
And because of this, he wasn't aware of just how sinful he really was.
And because of this, he wasn't aware of just how sinful he really was.
Paul himself is saying that there was a time when he did not understand the moral demands of the law.
And this is where there are different opinions as to what Paul meant.
And because of this, he wasn't aware of just how sinful he really was.
And this is where there are different opinions as to what Paul meant.
And this is where there are different opinions as to what Paul meant.
He was blind to it in a sense.
Some scholars believe that Paul was unsaved at this time, and talking about his childhood experience with the law.
Some scholars believe that Paul was unsaved at this time, and talking about his childhood experience with the law.
Some scholars believe that Paul was unsaved at this time, and talking about his childhood experience with the law.
And this is where there are different opinions as to what Paul meant.
Let me explain.
Because Paul was raised in a Jewish culture, he would have gone through intense training in the Torah, or the Old Testament Law at a young age.
Because Paul was raised in a Jewish culture, he would have gone through intense training in the Torah, or the Old Testament Law at a young age.
Some scholars believe that Paul was unsaved at this time he was referring to.
Because Paul was raised in a Jewish culture, he would have gone through intense training in the Torah, or the Old Testament Law at a young age.
They would say that he was talking about his childhood experience with the law.
So some would say that when Paul said he was "alive apart from the law," he was referring to his time as a child before he hadn't formally learned the Torah.
So some would say that when Paul said he was "alive apart from the law," he was referring to his time as a child before he hadn't formally learned the Torah.
Because Paul was raised in a Jewish culture, he would have gone through intense training in the Torah as a child.
So some would say that when Paul said he was "alive apart from the law," he was referring to his time as a child before he hadn't formally learned the Torah.
The Torah is simply the Old Testament Law.
Others would say that Paul was indeed saved, but was such a "new" Christian, that he wasn't totally aware of what the law.
So some would say that when Paul said he was "alive apart from the law," he was referring to his time as a child before he hadn't learned the Torah.
Others would say that Paul was indeed saved, but was such a "new" Christian, that he wasn't totally aware of what the law.
Others would say that Paul was indeed saved, but was such a "new" Christian, that he wasn't totally aware of what the law.
It was almost as if he was still a "child" in the faith, and experienced a sense of freedom because he was still unaware of the relationship between the law and his sinful flesh.
Others people would say that Paul was indeed saved at this time.
It was almost as if he was still a "child" in the faith, and experienced a sense of freedom because he was still unaware of the relationship between the law and his sinful flesh.
It was almost as if he was still a "child" in the faith, and experienced a sense of freedom because he was still unaware of the relationship between the law and his sinful flesh.
But they would say Paul was such a "new" Christian, that he wasn't totally aware of what the law demanded.
It was almost as if he was still a "child" in the faith
Some other people would even go as far to say that Paul wasn't specifically talking about himself, even though he uses the word "I."
Some other people would even go as far to say that Paul wasn't specifically talking about himself, even though he uses the word "I."
Some other people would even go as far to say that Paul wasn't specifically talking about himself, even though he uses the word "I."
And being a child, he experienced a sense of freedom
He experienced this because he was still unaware of the relationship between the law and his sinful flesh.
Some other people would even go as far to say that Paul wasn't specifically talking about himself, even though he uses the word "I."
Some people would say it's referring to Adam before him and Eve fell into sin. They would say that he was "alive" without the law until sin entered the world.

Some people would say it's referring to Adam before him and Eve fell into sin. They would say that he was "alive" without the law until sin entered the world.
They would say he was talking about humanity as a whole.
So as you can see, there are many different views about this section.

Some others would say it's referring to Adam before him and Eve fell into sin. They would say that he was "alive" without the law until sin entered the world.

You can see why some people could believe that.
So what do I believe?

I personally believe that Paul was talking about himself before he was saved.
I personally believe that Paul was talking about himself before he was saved.
I personally believe that Paul was talking about himself before he was saved.
So what do I think?
But I don't think Paul was talking about his experience as a child before he formally learned about the law.
But I don't think Paul was talking about his experience as a child before he formally learned about the law.
I personally believe that Paul was talking about himself before he was saved.
But I don't think Paul was talking about his experience as a child before he formally learned about the law.

I believe that Paul here was talking about his "Pre-conversion" experience.
I believe that Paul here was talking about his "Pre-conversion" experience.

What do I mean by that?
I believe that Paul here was talking about his "Pre-conversion" experience.

Well let me first say that I don't believe Paul felt like he was "dead" in his sins from the time he learned the law as a child until the time he got saved.
Well let me first say that I don't believe Paul felt like he was "dead" in his sins from the time he learned the law as a child until the time he got saved.
Well let me first say that I don't believe Paul felt like he was "dead" in his sins from the time he learned the law as a child until the time he got saved.
Well let me first say that I don't believe Paul felt like he was "dead" in his sins all of his life.
I believe Paul actually felt "alive" most of his life. I believe he felt like he was blameless so far as sin is concerned.
I believe Paul actually felt "alive" most of his life. I believe he felt like he was blameless so far as sin is concerned.
I believe Paul actually felt "alive" most of his life. I believe he felt like he was blameless so far as sin is concerned.
I don’t believe he felt “dead” from his childhood until he finally gave his life to Jesus.
Why do I say that?
Why do I say that?
I believe Paul actually felt very much "alive" most of his life.
Why do I say that?
I believe he felt like he was actually blameless so far as sin is concerned.
Turn with me to
Turn with me to

Why do I say that?
And let's look at verses 4-6

This is Paul describing himself before he became a Christian

Paul said that he was blameless so far as being under the law before he was a Christian.
Paul said that he was blameless so far as being under the law before he was a Christian.
Now we know that Paul wasn't blameless before God here.
Paul said that he was blameless so far as being under the law
Now we know that Paul wasn't blameless before God here.
And this was before he was a Christian.
He was still a sinner.
Now we know that Paul wasn't blameless before God at this point.
He was still a sinner.
But Paul shows us here that, outwardly, he was blameless.
He was still a sinner.
But Paul shows us here that, outwardly, he was blameless.
Paul kept the Jewish laws more than almost anyone else in Israel.
But Paul tells us here that, outwardly, he was blameless.
Paul kept the Jewish laws more than almost anyone else in Israel.
He was a Pharisee of Pharisee's.
Paul kept the Jewish laws more than almost anyone else in Israel.
He was a Pharisee of Pharisee's.
I don't know about you, but I don't sense that Paul felt "dead" at all at this time of his life.
I don't know about you, but I don't sense that Paul felt "dead" at all at this time of his life.
He was a Pharisee of Pharisee's.
I don't know about you, but I don't sense that Paul felt "dead" at all at this time of his life.
I believe Paul felt like he was doing just great.
I believe Paul felt like he was doing just great.
This was until God started working.
I believe Paul felt like he was doing just great.
This was until God started working.
The great apostle Paul did not start out so great.
The great apostle Paul did not start out so great.
This was until God started working.
This was, I believe, until God really started convicting of his inward sin.
Up until this point, I don’t think Paul was aware of it.
In the book of Acts, we read of Paul's conversion experience in chapter 9.

Paul was actually on his way to a city called Damascus to arrest Christians.

Paul's name was Saul before he became Paul by the way.

and Jesus spoke to him and said, "Saul, Saul, Why are you persecuting me?"
So Paul literally went from wanting to kill Christians one minute to the next minute falling on his face before Jesus.
So Paul literally went from wanting to kill Christians one minute to the next minute falling on his face before Jesus.
Paul's name was Saul before he became Paul by the way.
So Paul literally went from wanting to kill Christians one minute to the next minute falling on his face before Jesus.
The Scripture doesn't say anything about Paul feeling convicted before this moment, but I just wonder if the Holy Spirit began working in his life days or weeks before he was finally saved.
The Scripture doesn't say anything about Paul feeling convicted before this moment, but I just wonder if the Holy Spirit began working in his life days or weeks before he was finally saved.
I wonder if the Holy Spirit started opening Paul's eyes to the spiritual law, as Paul will write of it in verse 14.

Just possibly, Paul started for the first time in his life, seeing his sin and his need for a savior.

Like I said, I can't say that this is for sure what this section means, but to me it seemed the most likely.
Like I said, I can't say that this is for sure what this section means, but to me it seemed the most likely.
But, regardless of all of the different views, there is something very important about the law that we do learn in these verses.
I gave you some different themes about the law earlier.
But, regardless of all of the different views, there is something very important about the law that we do learn in these verses.
I gave you some different themes about the law earlier.
Here is the theme for verses 7-12
The Law Can Convict Us (x2)
Here is the theme for verses 7-12
The Law Can Convict Us (x2)
I said earlier that the Law can not condemn us.
But the Law can convict us.
I said earlier that the Law can not condemn us.
What's the difference.
But the Law can convict us.
What's the difference?
Condemnation pushes us further away from God.
Condemnation pushes us further away from God.
Conviction leads us closer to God.
Once again, Condemnation pushes us further away from God.
Conviction always leads us closer to God.
Once again, Condemnation pushes us further away from God.
Conviction leads us closer to God.
Conviction leads us closer to God.
So with that said, does God still want to use the Law in the life of the believer?
So with that said, does God still want to use the Law in the life of the believer?
Absolutely he does.
Absolutely he does.
We are dead to the law in the sense that it no longer has authority over us.
We are dead to the law in the sense that it no longer has authority over us.
But God still uses the Law to make Christians more into the image of Jesus Christ.
Jesus himself said in
But God still uses the Law to make Christians more into the image of Jesus Christ.
And I’m not talking about the 613 laws that they had in the old testament.
I’m talking about the laws concerning the attitudes of our hearts.
Jesus explains what these “laws” are in the sermon on the mount, Matthew 5-7
Jesus himself said in
He said, Do not think I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets;
He said, Do not think I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets;
I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them.
Paul clearly said in verse 12 that the law is not sinful and there is nothing wrong with it.
I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them.
In fact, it is holy, it is righteous, and it is good.
Paul clearly said in verse 12 that the law is not sinful and there is nothing wrong with it.
So there is no reason to get rid of it.
In fact, it is holy, it is righteous, and it is good.
So there is no reason to get rid of it.
And now through the Holy Spirit, God enables us to live up to what the Law had commanded.
The law wasn’t the problem, we were.
But now through the Holy Spirit, God enables us to live up to what the Law had commanded.
Finally, let's look at our last section of this chapter, verses 13-25
With that said, let's look at our last section of this chapter, verses 13-25
***Have Prateem Read***
So now as we move into these verses, Paul is really preparing us for the content of chapter 8.
Chapter 8 and I said is going to be all about life in the Spirit.
It's all about the Christian who lives under the influence of the Spirit.
In these last verses, we are going to see the struggling Christian.
We are going to see the Christian who is still feeling the weight of the law upon their lives.
This is about the person who is clearly saved.
There’s not much debate that Paul is talking about a saved person here.
But the issue is that they are fighting in their own strength to live up to the law’s requirements.
They don’t understand the grace of God.
And because of this, they aren’t finding victory in their lives.
Let's look at verse 13-14
Paul asks yet another question about the law.
He says, "okay, I don't believe that the law is sin anymore."
"I know that the law is holy, and righteous, and good."
But is this good thing what is causing me to feel so defeated in my Christian walk?
Should I blame the law for the way I am feeling?
And Paul uses some very strong imagery here.
Paul uses the word "death" in this chapter to explain his experience.
He's basically saying that I feel like a dead Christian.
I feel like I am totally missing God's mark for my life.
I feel like I can never do enough.
Is that because the law is making me feel like that?
Paul answers, absolutely not!
It's sin.
Sin is what is producing death.
Sin is what causes Christians to live in a defeated experience.
That is the experience that Paul is talking about here.
And isn't that the truth in so many of our lives?
We come to God.
We are so thankful for his forgiveness.
We have truly been born out of darkness into light.
And it's almost like the greater we realize God is.
The more holy we realize God is.
The more we see our own sin.
We come to a place, like Paul says here, where we truly feel "sinful beyond measure."
I think of Isaiah in chapter six
There he appears before the throne God Almighty and all he can say is "Woe is me! I am unclean”
That's the experience Paul is talking about here.
Look at what Paul says now in verse 15-23
He says, "For we know the law is spiritual, but I am of the flesh, sold under sin"
Paul is saying here, God's law is good. It's working in my heart.
But I can’t escape this sin nature
This is similar to what Paul says in
He says, "For the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit,
and the desires of the Spirit are against the flesh,
for these are opposed to each other, to keep you from doing the things you want to do."
Look at what Paul says now in verse 15.23
***Have Prateem Read***
Christians have been born again
They have been set free from the law
But there are many who still live like they are under the law.
There are many Christians who aren't walking in the freedom of God's Spirit.
And the result is that they end up feeling just like the man described in these verses.
They feel defeated.
They feel powerless.
They feel broken.
And let me just say, it’s okay to have times when you feel absolutely broken before the Lord.
In a sense, I think every day we should be seeing our total powerless over sin.
If you have never felt like that, there’s something very wrong.
But we can't stay there.
But we can’t stay in that helpless state.
We must move from that to the solution that Paul gives in verses 24-25
Look what he says
And Paul presents that to us in these final verses.
Verse 24-25
***Have Prateem Read***
Look Christians, we were saved by the blood of Jesus.
We have been forgiven from our sins.
And how did we get saved in the first place?
Was it because we managed to earn anything from God?
No, it was because in desperation we cried out to Jesus
We cried out for salvation, and he saved us.
We need to keep that attitude
Like I said, it is okay to be broken.
It’s okay to see that without Jesus, we are wretched people.
That we are powerless over sin.
We need to see that without Jesus, we are still just a wretched man, powerless over sin.
But that’s where we fall on our knees and beg for the Spirit of God to take over.
And that, my friends, is the key to entering into the Victorious Christian Life.
That is what will lead us into the great chapter 8.
Jesus said, "Blessed are the poor in Spirit, for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven."
