Believe the Lord Chooses well

In the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth, 27 to a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David. And the virgin’s name was Mary

NAZARETH (PLACE). The town of Jesus’ youth in Lower Galilee, just N of the valley of Jezreel (M.R. 178234). The Sea of Galilee lies 15 miles to the E while the Mediterranean lies 20 miles to the W Nazareth is identified by Matthew (2:23) and Luke (1:26; 2:4, 39) as the village of Mary and Joseph, the place where Jesus grew up (Luke 2:39, 51) and the village he left to visit the towns and villages of Galilee to begin his ministry (Mark 1:9). Luke mentions a synagogue in Nazareth (4:16) where Jesus spoke as an adult and where his message was not well received (4:28–30). Evidently later in his ministry, it was well known that Jesus was from Nazareth (Matt 21:11), which did not always evoke an amiable response (cf. John 1:45–46).

45 Philip found Nathanael and said to him, “We have found him of whom Moses in the Law and also the prophets wrote, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.” 46 Nathanael said to him, “Can anything good come out of Nazareth?” Philip said to him, “Come and see.”

The Lord is with thee
Blessed art thou among women
She was troubled with the greeting but the angel said you found favor(grace) with God
We serve a God full of Grace. Grace is the favor of God to human beings. It is an undeserved gift which can be requested, which is freely and unilaterally given and not coerced, and which can be withheld.
Grace is characteristically a favor for a specific occasion given to an inferior by a superior, a person in authority. This uncoerced and unilateral favor is more than a disposition of passive benevolence on the part of God. Its something God wants to do!

The Lord will put greatness in you

The angel predicted five things about Mary’s Son.
1. He will be great.
2. He will be called the Son of the Most High (cf. v. 76). The Septuagint often used the term “Most High” (hypsistou) to translate the Hebrew ‘elyôn (cf. v. 76). Mary could not have missed the significance of that terminology. The fact that her Baby was to be called the “Son of the Most High” pointed to His equality with Yahweh. In Semitic thought a son was a “carbon copy” of his father, and the phrase “son of” was often used to refer to one who possessed his “father’s” qualities (e.g., the Heb. trans. “son of wickedness” in [KJV] means a wicked person).
3. He will be given the throne of His father David. Jesus, as David’s descendant, will sit on David’s throne when He reigns in the Millennium (; , ).
4. He will reign over the house of Jacob forever. Jesus’ reign over the nation Israel as her King will begin in the Millennium and continue on into the eternal state.
5. His kingdom will never end. These promises must have immediately reminded Mary of the promise of Yahweh to David (). David understood the prophecy as referring not only to his immediate son (Solomon) who would build the temple, but also to the future Son who would rule forever. David stated that Yahweh had spoken of the distant future (). Mary would have understood that the angel was speaking to her of the Messiah who had been promised for so long.

Believe and Act in Faith

Mary accepted the words of the angel. Verse 1:37 For nothing will be impossible with God.”
38 And Mary said, “Behold, I am the servant of the Lord; let it be to me according to your word.” And the angel departed from her.
1. He will be great.
It takes FAITH to believe the impossible. The angel said that she would give birth to our savior. She realizing she is a virgin asked how and He said the Holy Spirit would overshadow her.
This may seem an unusual act. In her case of be impregnated it is. For this the only immaculate conception ever recorded. Yet Gabrielle uses a word overshadow that Mary could relate to. This word espiskiazo in the Greek literally means to cover. Its used in the synoptic Gospels overshadow, cover, envelop. Cf. ; see also ; ;
3. He will be given the throne of His father David. Jesus, as David’s descendant, will sit on David’s throne when He reigns in the Millennium (; , ).
Which all deal with the Holy Spirit overshadowing the Peter, James and John on the Mount Transfiguration. When we heard the Lord Speak concerning Jesus “ This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased; listen to him.”
4. He will reign over the house of Jacob forever. Jesus’ reign over the nation Israel as her King will begin in the Millennium and continue on into the eternal state.
Yes the overshadowing of the Holy SPirit, Presence of the Lord will arrest our attention and remind us to do what Jesus said.
Mary said let me be according to thy word. That should be our response. Let me be according to thy word! What does the word say concerning you.
• I am a child of God.But to all who have received him--those who believe in his name--he has given the right to become God's children … (). • I am a branch of the true vine, and a conduit of Christ’s life.I am the true vine and my Father is the gardener.
