Review previous lessons: God’s Love for Me Is Unchanging and God’s Will For Me Is Christlikeness
Introduction: How many of you guys have ever experienced the perfect day? I mean you wake up in the morning and for some reason you just feel energized unlike most days when you hit snooze 10,000,000 times. Not only did you not struggle to get out of bed but there is also the smell of fresh, homemade cinnamon rolls wafting into your room. You get ready and your hair quickly and effortlessly falls into place and you get your favorite seat next to your best friend on the school bus. You seem to make all the right choices that day and ace every test that is thrown at you. At the end of the day you come home to find that that night you will be having your favorite meal. You find yourself with no homework and are able to enjoy your evening as you see fit.
On the other hand, how many of you guys have ever experienced the opposite of that? You sleep through your alarm and wake up with barely enough time to throw on some presentable clothes and grab your book bag. Your mom throws a cold head of broccoli at you for breakfast and, on the bus, you end up sitting next to the kid who hasn’t bathed in a week. You are tired and irritated and respond in the wrong way to everyone. You make your way into your worst class and then remember - today is test day and I forgot to study. Finally, school ends and as you enter your house you smell it - meatloaf for dinner. You spend the rest of your night diagramming sentences and reading poetry for homework.
Sometimes we are tempted to think this way. On the days that we call good, we are tempted to think that God, in that moment, must truly be pleased with us. Everything is going our way and we can do no wrong. On the days that we call bad, we are tempted to think that on those days God is against us and we can do no right. Again, when we find ourselves facing the storms of life what we need is a solid foundation on which to build our lives.

God's Word Is The Final Answer
2 Timothy 3:16
All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.
God’s Word is Authoritative
God’s Word is Authoritative
Example: You do not get to choose when you are breaking the speed limit.
We do not get to choose when we break God’s law. There is no arguing with the Word of God.
God Is Smarter Than Me
God Is Smarter Than Me
When we are confused and do not know how to deal with life’s struggles, we need to know that God’s wisdom is better than our wisdom. Therefore, Scripture is the answer to life’s struggles. When the winds are blowing, and when the floods are rising, and when temptations come at us from all sides we need to turn to the Word of God. If we reject the Word of God then we reject the answers that our hearts so desperately need.
Question: How does the fact that God is smarter than me give me comfort and stability?
God’s Word Is Useful
God’s Word Is Useful
“For this commandment which I command you today is not too mysterious for you, nor is it far off.
“For this commandment which I command you today is not too mysterious for you, nor is it far off. It is not in heaven, that you should say, ‘Who will ascend into heaven for us and bring it to us, that we may hear it and do it?’ Nor is it beyond the sea, that you should say, ‘Who will go over the sea for us and bring it to us, that we may hear it and do it?’ But the word is very near you, in your mouth and in your heart, that you may do it.
Everything in God’s Word is accessible and useful to you.
Question: How does that give you comfort and stability?
God’s Word Equips Me
God’s Word Equips Me
God’s Word will mature us and give us the tools that we need in order to do what He has called me to do.
Question: How does that give you comfort and stability?
God’s Grace Is Sufficient
God’s Grace Is Sufficient
2 Corinthians 12:7
And lest I should be exalted above measure by the abundance of the revelations, a thorn in the flesh was given to me, a messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I be exalted above measure. Concerning this thing I pleaded with the Lord three times that it might depart from me. And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ’s sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

Example: A child receiving help from their father.

Conclusion: Review
