Romans 1:11 NIV
I long to see you so that I may impart to you some spiritual gift to make you strong—
Paul wants to share a spiritual gift to strengthen their belief
Romans 1:12 NIV
that is, that you and I may be mutually encouraged by each other’s faith.
The believer can be encouraged by another believer's faith.

For in it … faith for faith

Romans 1:17 NIV
For in the gospel the righteousness of God is revealed—a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: “The righteous will live by faith.”
The believer's access to salvation and right standing is through faith.

Although they know God’s righteous decree

Romans 1:32 NIV
Although they know God’s righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them.
Paul indicates they (those who have did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God) know God's decree
Romans 2:4 NIV
Or do you show contempt for the riches of his kindness, forbearance and patience, not realizing that God’s kindness is intended to lead you to repentance?
The purpose of the Father's kindness is bring people to repentance.

For, as it … because of you

Romans 2:24 NIV
As it is written: “God’s name is blasphemed among the Gentiles because of you.”
Your words and actions should line up as a Christian. If they don't this verse indicates that the hypocrisy the Gentiles can use to blaspheme the Heavenly Father's name.
Romans 2:29 NIV
No, a person is a Jew who is one inwardly; and circumcision is circumcision of the heart, by the Spirit, not by the written code. Such a person’s praise is not from other people, but from God.
Circumcision of the heart is performed by the Spirit with the acquiescence of the believer.
Romans 3:20 NIV
Therefore no one will be declared righteous in God’s sight by the works of the law; rather, through the law we become conscious of our sin.
The law makes you aware of sin (missing the mark)

But now apart … been made known

Romans 3:21 NIV
But now apart from the law the righteousness of God has been made known, to which the Law and the Prophets testify.
The righteousness of the Heavenly Father that is based on faith in the Messiah. And it is confirmed by the law and the prophets.
Romans 3:22–23 NIV
This righteousness is given through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference between Jew and Gentile, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
Both Jew and Gentile fall short of the standards (excellence) of the Heavenly Father. For all have sinned.
Glory (Kavod): heavy in weight.
Romans 3:24 NIV
and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.
The believer is put in right standing with the Father through his grace by Christ's sacrifice.
Romans 3:25 NIV
God presented Christ as a sacrifice of atonement, through the shedding of his blood—to be received by faith. He did this to demonstrate his righteousness, because in his forbearance he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished—
Biblical doctrine that God has reconciled sinners to Himself through the sacrificial work of Jesus Christ

Romans 3:27 NIV
Where, then, is boasting? It is excluded. Because of what law? The law that requires works? No, because of the law that requires faith.
What is the law of faith?
Romans 4:5 NIV
However, to the one who does not work but trusts God who justifies the ungodly, their faith is credited as righteousness.
Paul is indicating that the believer's faith gives him access to the righteousness obtained by the Father's Grace
Romans 4:11 NIV
And he received circumcision as a sign, a seal of the righteousness that he had by faith while he was still uncircumcised. So then, he is the father of all who believe but have not been circumcised, in order that righteousness might be credited to them.
Abraham is the father of faith: not only of the Jew but the Gentile as well.
Romans 4:13 NIV
It was not through the law that Abraham and his offspring received the promise that he would be heir of the world, but through the righteousness that comes by faith.
The believers' righteousness comes by faith.

there is no … is no transgression

Romans 4:15 NIV
because the law brings wrath. And where there is no law there is no transgression.
There is no way to miss the mark when there is no law
Romans 4:16 NIV
Therefore, the promise comes by faith, so that it may be by grace and may be guaranteed to all Abraham’s offspring—not only to those who are of the law but also to those who have the faith of Abraham. He is the father of us all.
What is the promise?
1. The fact that through faith the believer would be blessed through Messiah's life, death and resurrection.
Romans 5:1 NIV
Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,
After being made right through faith, the believer now has peace with the Heavenly Father.
Romans 5:2 NIV
through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we boast in the hope of the glory of God.
Our entrance into the grace of the Heavenly Father is through faith.
Romans 5:3–4 NIV
Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope.
1. suffering (trouble & distress) leads to perseverance (endurance)
2. Perseverance leads to Character (your Christ-like quality)
3. Character brings about Hope
Definition:
Hope - a person or thing in which expectations are centered.
Romans 5:5 NIV
And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.
Because of the Holy Spirit, God's love has been deposited into the believer's heart.
Romans 5:8 NIV
But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
When we were at our lowest point, the Messiah died for us.

justified by his blood

Romans 5:9 NIV
Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God’s wrath through him!
The Messiah's blood that was shed at the cross justified (reconciled) man back to the Heavenly Father.

sin came into … because all sinned

Romans 5:12 NIV
Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all people, because all sinned—
Because of Adam sin came into the world.
Because of sin, death came into the world
Romans 5:15 NIV
But the gift is not like the trespass. For if the many died by the trespass of the one man, how much more did God’s grace and the gift that came by the grace of the one man, Jesus Christ, overflow to the many!
We are saved by grace so the believer doesn't work for it but they have to believe for it.
Romans 5:19 NIV
For just as through the disobedience of the one man the many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of the one man the many will be made righteous.
The believer righteousness is the result of the Messiah's obedience.
The Messiah was obedience to the cross.

The law was … trespass might increase

Romans 5:20 NIV
The law was brought in so that the trespass might increase. But where sin increased, grace increased all the more,
Paul is reiterating what he stated earlier. Without the law there is no transgression. The law made man aware of his sin.
And the grace of the Heavenly Father increased to cover the sins that were committed.
