Clarity of God; nv 7/15/07 am

OS: 1 10 years with Northview. …

2 Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland.” Is 43:18-19

Back to the One whom it is all about:

Prop: 3 God is to be the only One for us, and we are to see ourselves as the only one to Him.

TS} Three things that stand out from a reading of Scripture – Things very clear about God.

I.      4 God wants to be known.

A.   Not necessarily like a popularity contest: CALVIN AND HOBBES—THE REST OF THE STORY
The next day at home, father is sitting at his desk doing paper work. Calvin walks in with a clipboard and pen in hand.
CALVIN: Dad, your polls took a big dive this week. Your "Overall Dad Performance Rating" was really low. See? Right about yesterday your popularity went down the tubes.
DAD (shouting at Calvin , rising from his chair): Calvin you didn’t get dessert yesterday because you flooded the house!!!!
CALVIN (walking away): I’d suggest a new line of work Dad.

B.    “so that you will know that I am the Lord your God”

1.Exodus 6:7, I will take you as my own people, and I will be your God. Then you will know that I am the Lord your God, who brought you out from under the yoke of the Egyptians.

2.Exodus 8:10, “Tomorrow,” Pharaoh said. Moses replied, “It will be as you say, so that you may know there is no one like the Lord our God.

C.   Question: If God wants to be known why do we consider knowing God to be so hard?

II.   5 God is the Lord God who sees me.

A.   Genesis 16 (Hagar)

1.: verse 13 - “You are the God who sees me”

2.Hagar was lowest of lowest on the totem pole. (servant of Sarah)

B.    The value of one (Luke 15)

1.Parable of the diligent, compassionate Shepherd.

2.Parable of the persistent woman who lost a coin.

3.Parable of the loving, forgiving Father.

III.           6 God wants us to know the value of one.

A.   We bring glory to God when we focus on the one

B.    A multitude is nothing more than a big group of ones.

C.   If each brought one this year – made a difference in one – invested in one – and taught them to do the same - imagine the masses who would be bringing glory to God over the years.

TS] 7 Three things that are very clear about God – He wants you to know Him – He knows you – He wants you to live by that same value of one.
