All these statistics and so many more lead us to ask the question what is wrong with our world today.
We believe that this world is broken by sin.
We believe that this world is broken by sin.
Therefore, just as sin came into the world through one man, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men because all sinned—

Tabula Rasa - Blank Slate - Belief that you are influenced by nurture. So that you influenced by culture and education and shaped into what you become.
The fall of man is historical.
The fall of man is historical.
1 Now the serpent was more crafty than any other beast of the field that the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, “Did God actually say, ‘You shall not eat of any tree in the garden’?”
2 And the woman said to the serpent, “We may eat of the fruit of the trees in the garden,
3 but God said, ‘You shall not eat of the fruit of the tree that is in the midst of the garden, neither shall you touch it, lest you die.’ ”
4 But the serpent said to the woman, “You will not surely die.
5 For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”
6 So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was to be desired to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate, and she also gave some to her husband who was with her, and he ate.
7 Then the eyes of both were opened, and they knew that they were naked. And they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves loincloths.
8 And they heard the sound of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and the man and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God among the trees of the garden.
9 But the Lord God called to the man and said to him, “Where are you?”
10 And he said, “I heard the sound of you in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked, and I hid myself.”

The fall is a fundamental component of the Christian world view.
Adam was a real person. This is not a myth. The bible posits a real Adam dealing with real issues.
The fall of man is universal.
The fall of man is universal.

Look, I was guilty of sin from birth,
a sinner the moment my mother conceived me.

Any man who declares children to be born perfect never was a father. Your child without evil? You without eyes, you mean!

“The depravity of man is at once the most empirically verifiable reality but at the same time the most intellectually resisted fact.”

The fall of man is personal.
The fall of man is personal.
One of the great spiritual needs in our life is to come to grips with our own sinfulness! We must say with Isaiah
5 And I said: “Woe is me! For I am lost; for I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; for my eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts!”
We must say with David,
3 For I know my transgressions, and my sin is ever before me.
Psam 51 3
We must say with the parodical Son
21 And the son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son.’
We must say with the tax collector,
13 But the tax collector, standing far off, would not even lift up his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, ‘God, be merciful to me, a sinner!’
Martain Luther stated,
"The recognition of sin is the beginning of salvation."
"The recognition of sin is the beginning of salvation."
You will never understand the greatness of the Savior until you understand the greatness of your sin.
You will never understand the greatness of the Savior until you understand the greatness of your sin.
The fall of man is dreadful.
The fall of man is dreadful.
17 but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.”
Impossible - You can’t change yourself!
In the prophets of Samaria
I saw an unsavory thing:
they prophesied by Baal
and led my people Israel astray.
Can the Ethiopian change his skin
or the leopard his spots?
Then also you can do good
who are accustomed to do evil.

It’s Internal - the problem is not out there the problem is in here.
For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false witness, slander.
The Heat of the problem is the problem of the heart!
For from within, out of the heart of man, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery,
Death is separation from the life giving presence of God.
Death is separation from the life giving presence of God.
23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
The fall of man is reversible.
The fall of man is reversible.
4 But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, born of woman, born under the law,
5 to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons.
