Power

Matthew 1:22–25 ESV
All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had spoken by the prophet: “Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall call his name Immanuel” (which means, God with us). When Joseph woke from sleep, he did as the angel of the Lord commanded him: he took his wife, but knew her not until she had given birth to a son. And he called his name Jesus.
Matthew 1:22–23 ESV
All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had spoken by the prophet: “Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall call his name Immanuel” (which means, God with us).

*who is a believer that still has sin in their life*
you leave every day on a date with worldliness
God lays out the ground rules for the enemy
enemy can’t:
force us to sin
can’t keep us if we want to return to God
Power comes in obedience
when I’m out sinning with the enemy then I have left the will of God or at least partially and when I leave His will then I leave His power
His will is that you would experience His power
We experience His power when we believe in Him and His power
If you are experiencing God’s power but you don’t have faith or obedience...
God’s people were hungry and didn’t believe that they would have their needs met but God had promised to take care of them. Moses asks how will God feed all of them b/c there were 6,000 to feed
Numbers 11:21 ESV
But Moses said, “The people among whom I am number six hundred thousand on foot, and you have said, ‘I will give them meat, that they may eat a whole month!’
Numbers 11:23 HCSB
The Lord answered Moses, “Is the Lord’s power limited? You will see whether or not what I have promised will happen to you.”
He made food fall from the sky to feed them morning and evening...
Proves need of fellowship:
Sometimes I will not have the faith
others will and we will be blessed as a group because of those who believe
other times the one who carried me when I was weak will be short on faith and I will help carry them
How powerful is God?
Jeremiah 32:17 ESV
‘Ah, Lord God! It is you who have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and by your outstretched arm! Nothing is too hard for you.
Jesus said:
Matthew 19:26 ESV
But Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”

I know that the Bible says it but will it really happen?
we live in a world of empty promises
1 Corinthians 4:19–20 ESV
But I will come to you soon, if the Lord wills, and I will find out not the talk of these arrogant people but their power. For the kingdom of God does not consist in talk but in power.
1 Corinthians 4:20 ESV
For the kingdom of God does not consist in talk but in power.
Apostle Paul experienced the power of God and here is what he said:
Philippians 3:7 ESV
7 But whatever gain I had, I counted as loss for the sake of Christ.
Phil 3:
Philippians 3:8–9 ESV
8 Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ 9 and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which comes through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God that depends on faith—
Phil
Why did he do all that?
Philippians 3:10–21 ESV
10 that I may know him and the power of his resurrection, and may share his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, 11 that by any means possible I may attain the resurrection from the dead. 12 Not that I have already obtained this or am already perfect, but I press on to make it my own, because Christ Jesus has made me his own. 13 Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, 14 I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. 15 Let those of us who are mature think this way, and if in anything you think otherwise, God will reveal that also to you. 16 Only let us hold true to what we have attained. 17 Brothers, join in imitating me, and keep your eyes on those who walk according to the example you have in us. 18 For many, of whom I have often told you and now tell you even with tears, walk as enemies of the cross of Christ. 19 Their end is destruction, their god is their belly, and they glory in their shame, with minds set on earthly things. 20 But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, 21 who will transform our lowly body to be like his glorious body, by the power that enables him even to subject all things to himself.
Phil 3:10-
power is for the children of God
the enemy will show up to take us out on a date but the enemy has no power over us but only the power that we allow him to have...
Jesus says that we don’t have to go and if we are gone He says that we can come back in
His power will transform us and those around us
