30 And the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. 31 And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus. 32 He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. And the Lord God will give to him the throne of his father David, 33 and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of his kingdom there will be no end.”

34 And Mary said to the angel, “How will this be, since I am a virgin?”

35 And the angel answered her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; therefore the child to be born will be called holy—the Son of God

A question we’ll undoubtedly hear many times up to now is this, "Are you ready for Christmas?"
I suppose what is really being asked is, "Have you put up all your Christmas decorations? Have you finished your Christmas shopping? Have you mailed your Christmas cards? Have you put on your calendar all the places you’re supposed to go? Are you ready for Christmas?"
Are you ready for Christmas? I don’t know if you will be able to get all your shopping done or not. I don’t know if you will be able to attend all the events you want to attend.
You see, when I ask the question, "Are you ready for Christmas?" I’m asking about more than your activities. I’m asking about your attitudes, because every once in a while I hear someone say, "I just can’t get into the Christmas spirit!" Maybe you’ve said it too. But I hope that you are ready in attitude. I hope you are ready for the real spirit of Christmas to come, because if you’re ready for that, it’ll happen. It’ll happen in the greatest way of all.
But I hope that you are ready in attitude. I hope you are ready for the real spirit of Christmas to come, because if you’re ready for that, it’ll happen. It’ll happen in the greatest way of all.
Jesus Christ stands before us today, inviting us to make important decisions about our lives & our eternity. He extends His nail-pierced hands & says, "I have given My all for you. Will you give your all to Me?"
The name Jesus means “Saviour” (“Jehovah is salvation”). A Savior is one who has the power to rescue people who could not rescue themselves. Jesus has the God-given power to save His people from their sins. Mary’s Boy was called “Jesus the Christ.” The Christ “The Anointed One”; He is “Jesus the Messiah.” Jesus is His human name; Christ is His official title; and Immanuel describes who He is—“God with us.” Jesus Christ is God!

During this time of the year, we can reflect on Jesus coming into this world in order to live a sinless life of about 33 years and then die a terrible death to pay a sin debt He did not owe, for us. A people that owed a sin debt that they could not pay. Jesus Christ is the Reason for the Season, let us celebrate His Birth this Christmas season.
Let us pray.
