The wise men, the magi, and we aren’t sure how many of them there were, but we know they travelled quite a distance to get there
You guys know this story, they brought what with them?
Gold, Frankincense, Myrrh
Jesus may have been 2 years old by this time, but all of this isn’t the point.

Worshiped Him

Sometimes we jump right to the gifts and miss they key part in this story.
Verse 11 told us they fell down and worshiped Christ, the two year old baby
Now many parents today worship their kids, but this isn’t the type of worship that is happening here with the wise men.
Unless you have humbled yourself before Jesus, the rest of the story doesn’t matter.
It does not matter what you bring before God, unless you’ve made Him your Lord, it’s pointless.
Have you realized that?
There are a lot of people in this world, who give money to a church, help the poor, care for the sick, etc....and it’s all worthless because they’ve not humbled themselves
See a bunch of us think we can appease God by doing things for Him, by giving stuff to Him

Bring Your Best

Now, as we said, we know they brought gold, frankincense, and myrrh
But that’s not important
It’s not as if Jesus needed these things.
Honored Him
The gifts were a tangible way they could honor the Lord
We are called to the same thing, to give of what we have for His honor and glory
Sacrificial
This is the big one that I want you guys to see tonight:
The wise men gave sacrificially to Jesus
When was the last time you sacrificed anything for God?
I’m not just talking money
I’m talking time, I’m talking energy, I’m talking commitment, I’m talking love
See, a lot of us, quite a few of you if I’m honest, you have never sacrificed anything for God
