Believers are called to sacrificial love as a way of living ()
Believers are called to sacrificial love as a way of living ()
Explanation: The Apostle Paul informs the Corinthian believers of their expectations in the area of love. He redefines for what it means to give and receive sacrificially (agape love). Believers are expected to be patient and kind to one another; we are expected to subvert our personal desires for the good of others - we don’t insist on getting our own way.
Illustrate: Famous actors / power politicians / CEO’s, etc. they have requirements for going places
Argument: The Eternal Second Person of the Trinity willing left the glory of heaven to come down to earth. Not only did He condescend to come down, but He came down as a baby in a food trough in the country.
Application: As believers celebrating the Christmas season we need to be reminded of the quality of love as Jesus defined it. We can love others this way. It is possible, and we should willingly embrace the Way of Love
God’s gift of Jesus empowers us to be able to live sacrificially ()
God’s gift of Jesus empowers us to be able to live sacrificially ()
Explanation: The Apostle John tells the believers that love is one of the greatest virtues possible. He tells them that this is due to the very nature of God Himself - God is love. The Love of God is a powerful force and it impacts and transforms those it touches. However, It is vital for us to realize and understand that His love is primary - it comes before ours. God is the One who initiates. He loves us before we respond by loving Him.
Argument: Christmas is the season to celebrate the arrival of Jesus into the world. As we observe the various traditions this Christmas season, let’s ensure we understand, as fully as we can, the precious gift that God gave the world. God initiated the entire process of love. He gave Jesus, He sent His Son to seek and to save the lost. Before we ever thought of Him, He loved the unlovable and demonstrated it through the birth of Christ ()

Application: Praise God from whom ALL blessings flow. He is the gift-giver, and He is the epitome and source of love and all that is good. Pray and ask God to give us hearts filled with praise.

Explanation: Jesus taught His disciples the value of love as a means of witnessing to others. Jesus told them that the love they would express to each other and to the world would validate His message.
Illustrate: We validate (or disprove) the claims made by the producers of products. E.g. the life proof phone case - do not put it in water to test it!
Argument: This is the one area of our lives as believers that Jesus gives the world permission to judge us. Jesus expressed this type of Love when He died for those who despised and rejected Him.
Application: In the midst of holiday stress we have multiple opportunities to love on another. As families gather for Christmas, we have opportunities to mend broken relationships and love those who may have legitimately offended us.
