Introduction
In we read one of the most powerful passages in all of Scripture concerning God’s love and faithfulness to those created in His image.
9 Know therefore that the Lord your God is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and steadfast love with those who love him and keep his commandments, to a thousand generations,
Considering the overwhelming “unfaithfulness” of mankind and our seemingly growing “infidelities” I’m reminded of what Charles Spurgeon once said...
The glory of God’s faithfulness is that no sin of ours has ever made Him unfaithful.
This morning I want us to consider, for a moment, what have a faithful Creator brings us, the created.
Comfort
Comfort
Looking back, God has always been faithful to His people
Looking back, God has always been faithful to His people
He was faithful to His Word between Abel and Cain.
7 If you do well, will you not be accepted? And if you do not do well, sin lies at the door. And its desire is for you, but you should rule over it.”
He was faithful to the Israelites with the Promise Land.
18 On that day the Lord made a covenant with Abram, saying, “To your offspring I give this land, from the river of Egypt to the great river, the river Euphrates, 19 the land of the Kenites, the Kenizzites, the Kadmonites, 20 the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Rephaim, 21 the Amorites, the Canaanites, the Girgashites and the Jebusites.”
Gen 15:18-
21 Solomon ruled over all the kingdoms from the Euphrates to the land of the Philistines and to the border of Egypt. They brought tribute and served Solomon all the days of his life.
40 Therefore you shall keep his statutes and his commandments, which I command you today, that it may go well with you and with your children after you, and that you may prolong your days in the land that the Lord your God is giving you for all time.”
16 if you transgress the covenant of the Lord your God, which he commanded you, and go and serve other gods and bow down to them. Then the anger of the Lord will be kindled against you, and you shall perish quickly from off the good land that he has given to you.”
God’s faithfulness should bring us comfort
God’s faithfulness should bring us comfort
It allows us joy when things are dreary.
2 Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds,
10 “Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Mt 5:
It allows us peace when things are chaotic.
8 In peace I will both lie down and sleep; for you alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety.
7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

When we read about God’s faithfulness to His people in the past it should bring us comfort in our lives today.
Calm
Calm
Today, God will be faithful to His people
Today, God will be faithful to His people
God’s faithfulness isn’t bound up in time and only for the people of the “biblical ages.”
8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.
23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful.
God’s faithfulness today should bring a calm to our lives
God’s faithfulness today should bring a calm to our lives
Today so many are struggling to have a calmness in their lives.
We see anxiety and depression at all time highs not just in adults but children.
For the child of God that understands God’s faithfulness, they can find calm in their lives.
6 Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, 7 casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.
1 Peter 5:
4 Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice. 5 Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand; 6 do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
25 And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life?

When we understand God is still faithful to us living today, it should help us have a calm that the world cannot fathom.
Confidence
Confidence
Tomorrow God will still be faithful to His people
Tomorrow God will still be faithful to His people
This fact is clearly demonstrated in the promises that have yet to be fulfilled.
For the faithful living, the promise of paradise.
12 Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him.
10 Do not fear what you are about to suffer. Behold, the devil is about to throw some of you into prison, that you may be tested, and for ten days you will have tribulation. Be faithful unto death, and I will give you the crown of life.
For the faithful dead or alive when Christ returns, the promise of heaven.
2 In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also.
John 14:2-
16 For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord.
1 Thes 4:16-
Knowing God will be faithful tomorrow should bring us confidence
Knowing God will be faithful tomorrow should bring us confidence
We can be confident to stay sound in the doctrine of Christ.
12 Indeed, all who desire to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted,
7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.
We can be confident to teach the truth no matter what.
We can be confident to teach
2 preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching.
2 Tim
We can be confident in teaching the lost.
28 And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather fear him who can destroy both soul and body in hell.

Invitation
1 Behold, the Lord’s hand is not shortened, that it cannot save, or his ear dull, that it cannot hear; 2 but your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God, and your sins have hidden his face from you so that he does not hear.
6 who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, 7 but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men.
