What is the meaning of save?
You don’t save someone who just needs a little help.
(You save someone who is unable to do anything to save themselves.
(You save someone that is lost at sea.
A person who has stopped breathing needs saving.)
So prior to Jesus saving us, we as a people where helplessly and hopelessly lost in our on sins.
People were alienated form God, under His righteous judgment, and unable to free themselves from their condition.
A Savior is one who has the power to rescue people who cannot rescue themselves.
Jesus has the God given power to save people from their sins.
(Many believe that Jesus ability to save anyone is contingent on the person’s exercising his “Free-will.”
