Therefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints, do not cease to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers: that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints,
Eph 1:15-
But as it is written:
“Eye has not seen, nor ear heard,
Nor have entered into the heart of man
The things which God has prepared for those who love Him.”

And It’s A New Season For You
Paul had a fervent prayer life and prayed fervently for the Ephesian Church. He said, I Cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers; () Paul had just told them about their tremendous and bountiful blessings in Christ. Now, he prays that they would fully know and appreciate those blessings. In this prayer we see some things we need.

1. The spirit of wisdom ()
Wisdom is the ability to apply knowledge. It is the God-given ability to practice what we know to be truth. We must not mistake knowledge for wisdom! Wisdom enables us to understand and to discern what to do, how to do it, and when to do it. Wisdom is essential for living the Christian life.
James said, If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.

4. The hope of His calling (; cp. note, )
4. The hope of His calling (; cp. note, )
Paul says, that ye may know what is the hope of his calling. () Our enlightenment will result in a greater understanding of the calling of God in our life. Every believer has hope and calling. Keep in mind that the word hope in the Bible does not mean "hope so," like a child hoping for a doll or a bike at Christmas. The word carries with it "assurance." The word calling has the idea of a "vocation or a work." Every Christian has a purpose and place in the work of God. However, many Christians miss their calling because they do not know the will of God.

They went right into the house where he was staying, and Jesus asked them, “Do you believe I can make you see?”
“Yes, Lord,” they told him, “we do.”
Then he touched their eyes and said, “Because of your faith, it will happen.” Then their eyes were opened, and they could see! Jesus sternly warned them, “Don’t tell anyone about this.”

Tell Some body You Haven’t seen nothing yet!!
The Biblical illiteracy of our day is a sad and serious situation. Even among those who profess to be Christians, there is an overwhelming ignorance concerning the things of God. Paul's prayer was that such ignorance would not be the case among the Ephesians. Paul prayed that, The eyes of your understanding being enlightened. ()
The word enlightened means "illuminated; instructed; enlightened; informed; furnished with clear views."
The word enlightened means "illuminated; instructed; enlightened; informed; furnished with clear views."
To be enlightened with the plan of God involves three areas.
I. Requires God's Wisdom
I. Requires God's Wisdom
That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him: ()
There are three words used here in connection with our enlightenment.
First, the Application Of Wisdom.
First, the Application Of Wisdom.
James said, If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.
If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.
Second, the Abundance Of Revelation.
Second, the Abundance Of Revelation.
Second, the Abundance Of Revelation. The word revelation means "to uncover, expose, disclose, or make known." It carries the idea of removing a veil and exposing that which is hidden behind it. Revelation is God revealing to man what he would otherwise never know. God has taken the cover off and revealed the great truths that mankind needs to know. God has given us His Inspired, Infallible and Inerrant word. The revelation of God is complete. There are no new revelations today. But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away. () The Word of God is His complete revelation to man. Third, the Acquiring Of Knowledge. Knowledge is the information we need to live for God. God has given us His Word, now we must dig into it and learn it. We are commanded to, Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. () AChristian who stays in the Word of God is referred to as a workman that needeth not to be ashamed. On the other hand it is a shameful thing to have the Word of God and neglect the study of it. Jesus said, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures... () God help us to be students of His Word. Wisdom, Revelation and Knowledge are available, but we must go to the right source. Christ taught us that the Spirit of God and the wisdom of God go together. (; ) To be enlightened with the plan of God we must be filled with the Spirit of God and draw from the Word of God.
