A lost world does not seek God
None is righteous, no, not one;
11 no one understands;
no one seeks for God.
12 All have turned aside; together they have become worthless;
no one does good,
not even one.”
Romans 3:
Romans 3
Romans 3
No one is righteous
righteous person n. — a person characterized by righteous actions and morals.
There is no person that left to himself will fulfill righteous living.
By nature of the fall humanity is tainted with sin and therefore cannot live a righteous life.
A lost persons morals are fleshly and worldly.
They live their lives for only what is beneficial to them with no regard to right or wrong.
They may have a sense of right or wrong, but when they choose wrong they will justify their wrong doing.
We cannot expect the world to live and do as the church does.
As a matter of fact we should expect the world to live in opposition to the church.
These things I have spoken to you, so that in Me you may have peace.
In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world.”
John 16:33
No one understands
Man is unable to comprehend the truth of God or grasp His standard of righteousness (see Pss 14:2; 53:3; cf.
1Co 2:14).
Sadly, his spiritual ignorance does not result from a lack of opportunity (1:19, 20; 2:15), but is an expression of his depravity and rebellion
14 But a natural man does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually appraised
God quickens our spirits to life so we can understand the things of God.
Just as a dead person cannot understand anything that is said to them; a spiritually dead person cannot understand the things of God. 13 When you were dead [a]in your transgressions and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He made you alive together with Him, having forgiven us all our transgressions,
No one seeks for God
This verse clearly implies that the world’s false religions are fallen man’s attempts to escape the true God—not to seek Him.
Man’s natural tendency is to seek his own interests (cf.
Php 2:21), but his only hope is for God to seek him (Jn 6:37, 44).
It is only as a result of God’s work in the heart that anyone seeks Him (Ps 16:8; Mt 6:33).
"No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up on the last day.
John 6:44
Believers Are Chosen By God
Colo
Believers Are Chosen
16 You did not choose Me but I chose you, and appointed you that you would go and bear fruit, and that your fruit would remain, so that whatever you ask of the Father in My name He may give to you.
I don’t know why God chooses some and doesn’t choose others!
I am shocked that he chooses any!
But when God calls a person into salvation, I believe you have a choice to receive or reject God’s gift of salvation.
However; this notion that I will get saved when I want to get saved goes contrary to scripture.
Or I will live my life the way I want and when I am on my deathbed I will get saved.
If God calls you this morning BE SAVED!
Believers are Holy
holy (pure) adj.
— having the characteristics of moral or ritual purity; context often emphasizes one over the other.
We are not holy by ourselves.
We are sinners.
It is Christ who makes us Holy.
Because we belong to Jesus Christ and have His Holy Spirit we are holy and called to behave in a holy manner.
but alike the Holy One who called you, be holy yourselves also in all your behavior;
16 because it is written, “YOU SHALL BE HOLY, FOR I AM HOLY.” 1 peter 1:15-16
Believers are Loved
to be loved (Christian) v. — to be loved with a strong, non-sexual affection and regard for one’s good as understood by God’s moral character; especially characterized by a willing forfeiture of rights or privileges in another person’s behalf.
God loves us so much that his desire for us is always good.
He will never desire bad for you.
This is not to day that bad things will never happen to you.
They will.
But God allows bad things to come into your life so better things will come.
Use a doctor that prescribes medicine with side effects.
The doctor has determined that the ultimate good of the medicine outweighs the side effects.
This is how God views difficulty in our life.
Children of God are to Make Disciples
Lead them to Christ
Believers are called to share the gospel.
Only the gospel of Jesus Christ can save a person
And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must be saved.”
There will come a time in the relationship that you will need to share the gospel.
Grow them in Christ
We are called to invest in the lives of others.
This is done by living life with them.
Be there for them and teach them the truths about Christ.
People are hungry to know about Jesus.
We must share our lives with them.
We must demonstrate Christ-likeness.
We must have regularly scheduled Bible study.
Help them make Disciples
The purpose of disciple making is so that they can make disciples of Jesus Christ themselves.
