Re: Building Broken places
The writer to the Hebrews reminds us that it is by faith that we understand that the ages were framed by the Word of God and that what is seen was not made out of visible things
1. Seek a God Vision for your life..
A Latin motto says, Nisi Dominus Frusta. It comes from the first words of this psalm and means “Without the Lord, Frustration.” It is the motto of the city of Edinburgh, Scotland, appearing on its crest, and is affixed to the city’s official documents. It could be attached to the lives of many who are trying to live their lives without the Almighty.

Benjamin Franklin was not a Christian; he was a deist, though he appreciated Christians. He thought well of George Whitefield, the Calvinistic evangelist, for example. Franklin understood the futility of work without God and expressed it well in his “Speech to the Convention for Forming a Constitution for the United States,” delivered in Philadelphia in 1787.
In the beginning of the contest with Britain when we were sensible of danger, we had daily prayers in this room for the Divine protection. Our prayers, Sir, were heard, and they were graciously answered. All of us who were engaged in the struggle must have observed frequent instances of a superintending Providence. To that kind Providence we owe this opportunity of consulting in peace on the means of establishing our future national felicity. And have we now forgotten this powerful Friend? Or do we imagine that we no longer need his assistance? I have lived for a long time (81 years), and the longer I live the more convincing proof I see of this truth, that God governs in the affairs of men. And if a sparrow cannot fall to the ground without his notice, is it possible that an empire can rise without his aid? We have been assured, Sir, in the sacred writings, that “Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it.” I firmly believe this, and I also believe that without his concurring aid we shall proceed in this political building no better than the builders of Babel.
we are reminded that if we are willing, “the Lord builds the house” and “the Lord watches over the city” (v. 1, italics added). In other words, the work of God did not stop on the seventh day of creation when God “rested from all his work” (Gen. 2:2). God continues to work and works constantly. Part of what God does is work in, with, and through those who are working for him and in his name

A sense of unhappiness arising from a loss of confidence in one’s own abilities, in the reliability of God or in the power of the gospel. Discouragement can occur in the Christian life, especially when there is resistance to the gospel or in instances of personal failure. Scripture provides reassurance for those who experience discouragement
2. Allow God’s word to RE- ignite your passion.
Passion is an interesting word. In modern usage, passion often has a positive connotation. But in the New Testament, the word most often translated passion usually has a more negative meaning. It is usually associated with baser passions, such as lust or evil desires. The New Testament word more closely tied to the modern notion of passion is compassion.
The word translated compassion literally means “rumbling in the gut or stirring of the bowels.” That is not too appealing until you remember that the bowels, not the heart, were the symbolic center of life in the first-century worldview. Compassion, in the biblical sense, is the deep motive that drives a person's actions. Compassion is part of a person's core values, the heart issues that propel actions
The people had just begun their work and they needed inspiration to carry on.
You know the character of those who shared the truth with you (2 Timothy 3:14), Lois and Eunice (2 Timothy 1:5).
2. Scripture is able to make you wise for salvation through faith (2 Timothy 3:15).
3. Scripture is breathed out by God. These words are his words (2 Timothy 3:16).
4. Scripture is profitable for teaching, reproof, correction, and training (2 Timothy 3:16).
5. The righteousness that Scripture produces reveals itself in good works (2 Timothy 3:17).
b. Word and the Holy Spirit
3. Know that God is going to do something New.
As the people returned to their task they must have been overcome with depression as they realized that their new structure would never equal the one that had been lost.
First, the postexilic temple did not compare in size or beauty with the temple of Solomon which Nebuchadnezzar had destroyed. It must have been discouraging for the people to compare what they were able to do with what David and Solomon had accomplished with the resources of a wealthy and powerful kingdom. Yet God announced through Haggai that “the glory of this present house will be greater than the glory of the former house” (v. 9).
25 And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. 26
27 And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it.”
