1 Samuel 16:11 KJV 1900
And Samuel said unto Jesse, Are here all thy children? And he said, There remaineth yet the youngest, and, behold, he keepeth the sheep. And Samuel said unto Jesse, Send and fetch him: for we will not sit down till he come hither.
When Samuel called Jesse to sacrifice
Jesse brought out his best
His oldest sons
His biggest, tallest sons
His most accomplished sons
Most educated
Best looking
Showed the prophet almost all(sabai-jaso)
But Jesse kept back David
The youngest
Probably the weakest
Probably the least education(shikshaa)
The least experienced
The “worst” son
Not sinful or wicked
But not the best
David remained in the field
Out of sight(drishTi) of the prophet
Not offered(arpanu) to God
We often do the same
We tell ourselves
God doesn’t want that
God can’t use(prayog) that
It’s too(jyaadaa) small
Too weak
Too embarrassing
Too humbling
Not good enough
God wants all of us(Whole - haihra)
Not just the good looking(sudar)
Not just the strongest parts
Not just the nice parts
Our pride(Garba)(gamanda) keeps us from giving these lesser things to God
I need to fix that myself
I need to XXXXX before I start to share the gospel
I need to XXXXX before I start to obey God
I need to XXXXX before I start to have family devotions
No, you need to obey right now
Whatever you have right now, give to God
Let Him fix it
Let Him grow you
Let Him work in you!
Surrender that weakness now
Surrender that weakness now
Give it to him today
We know that God sees the heart
And sees sin, deceit, hidden things
But we often think of certain big hidden sins
Adultery, pornography, lies, etc.
And He does
But sometimes it is as simple as the pride in our hearts
He sees that our heart is trusting our own strength
The truth was that David was good looking(v.12)
But Jesse was keeping him back for some reason
Jesse mis-judged what God wanted
**"I’m not very good at table tennis”
Then they beat everyone
Because they mis-judge their skill
God does not command us to judge our skill(sip)
But even when we are truly weak
God wants that
God has chosen to use the weak
1 Corinthians 1:27 KJV 1900
But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;
Psalm 8:2 KJV 1900
Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings hast thou ordained strength Because of thine enemies, That thou mightest still the enemy and the avenger.
James 2:5 KJV 1900
Hearken, my beloved brethren, Hath not God chosen the poor of this world rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he hath promised to them that love him?
Give God your weakness
Let him use them!
Don’t hold back like Jesse did.
