What do you do when things get tough, rough, and seem out of control?

A Contemplation Of David. A Prayer When He Was in the Cave. I cry out to the Lord with my voice; With my voice to the Lord I make my supplication. I pour out my complaint before Him; I declare before Him my trouble. When my spirit was overwhelmed within me, Then You knew my path. In the way in which I walk They have secretly set a snare for me. Look on my right hand and see, For there is no one who acknowledges me; Refuge has failed me; No one cares for my soul. I cried out to You, O Lord: I said, “You are my refuge, My portion in the land of the living. Attend to my cry, For I am brought very low; Deliver me from my persecutors, For they are stronger than I. Bring my soul out of prison, That I may praise Your name; The righteous shall surround me, For You shall deal bountifully with me.”
A Psalm of David. Hear my prayer, O Lord, Give ear to my supplications! In Your faithfulness answer me, And in Your righteousness. Do not enter into judgment with Your servant, For in Your sight no one living is righteous. For the enemy has persecuted my soul; He has crushed my life to the ground; He has made me dwell in darkness, Like those who have long been dead. Therefore my spirit is overwhelmed within me; My heart within me is distressed. I remember the days of old; I meditate on all Your works; I muse on the work of Your hands. I spread out my hands to You; My soul longs for You like a thirsty land. Selah Answer me speedily, O Lord; My spirit fails! Do not hide Your face from me, Lest I be like those who go down into the pit. Cause me to hear Your lovingkindness in the morning, For in You do I trust; Cause me to know the way in which I should walk, For I lift up my soul to You. Deliver me, O Lord, from my enemies; In You I take shelter. Teach me to do Your will, For You are my God; Your Spirit is good. Lead me in the land of uprightness. Revive me, O Lord, for Your name’s sake! For Your righteousness’ sake bring my soul out of trouble. In Your mercy cut off my enemies, And destroy all those who afflict my soul; For I am Your servant.

1. Some Turn to SELF PITY
1. Some Turn to SELF PITY
it is easy to feel like the world is against us, out to get us, and we get the “poor little ole me” disease.
God does not honour this and you are taking away from the power of God. (maybe without knowing it) - you are denying the sovereignty of all mighty God.
2. Some Turn to FALSE SECURITY
2. Some Turn to FALSE SECURITY
We think that if we have our “things” together that they will lighten our burden, and lessen the impact of hard times....
God knows your path. vs. 3
26 But Jesus looked at them and said to them, “With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”
37 For with God nothing will be impossible.”
5 “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.
Nothing brings security like the presence of God.
37 For with God nothing will be impossible.”
3. Some Turn to ALMIGHTY GOD
3. Some Turn to ALMIGHTY GOD
7 Bring my soul out of prison, That I may praise Your name; The righteous shall surround me, For You shall deal bountifully with me.”
Some will acknowledge that God is the only source of true comfort in life and will run to Him.
Bountifully (vs 7) - God will help you through the struggles of life, if we trust in Him, and Him alone.
None of us are immune to heartache, loss, battles, or struggles - BUT GOD is the author and finisher (completer) of our faith, and He desires only the best for you.
