being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ;
being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ;
Paul is confident or sure in what
the very thing that he lays out in the rest of the statement (read the rest of the statement )
who is HE?
GOD we know that by going back to verse 3 this verse in context is part of the very nature why Paul is thankful to GOD for the church at Philippi.
SO! What is the Good work that GOD does?
this is where we will be camping today
The work GOD does for us
The work GOD does in us
The work GOD does through us
The work GOD does for us - Salvation
Now there is a misunderstanding of salvation.
Some may think that Salvation is saving us from Hell.
However That is the result of our Salvation, not Salvation.
Salvation also known as saving Faith, is when GOD does a Supernatural work in a person that:
Quickens our spirit
brings us from death to life
gives us a new nature
making us Born Again
regeneration.
salvation:
A broad term referring to God’s activity on behalf of creation and especially humans in bringing all things to God’s intended goal.
More specifically, salvation entails God’s deliverance of humans from the power and effects of sin and the Fall through the work of Jesus Christ so that creation in general and humans in particular can enjoy the fullness of life intended for what God has made.
Grenz, S., Guretzki, D., & Nordling, C. F. (1999).

The evidence of this is Repentance of sin.
Repentance is to see sin the same way GOD does and to turn from it.
So the question come, Does a person who GOD has just Regenerated, or Saved, or granted Salvation to turn from all of their sins that moment?
I would say not very likely!
The sin that is dealt with 1st is the sin of unbelief that JESUS is GOD and LORD of all and you have been disobedient to HIS commandments.
You can only come to this knowledge if GOD has revealed it to you.
The HOLY SPIRIT will prepare you to receive the free gift of GOD which is Saving Faith, So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
The evidence that GOD has started this work in someones life is that they will continue to repent of individual sins in their life as THE HOLY SPIRIT reveals them.
this is called Sanctification.
The work GOD does in us - Sanctification
The perseverance of the saints depends upon God’s preserving them by grace.
God’s “good work” in believers motivates their ongoing effort to “work out” their salvation in the process of sanctification
sanctification.
From the Hebrew and Greek, “to be set apart” from common use, “to be made holy.”
The nature of sanctification is twofold in that Christians have been made holy through Christ and are called to continue to grow into and strive for holiness by cooperating with the indwelling Holy Spirit until they enjoy complete conformity to Christ (glorification)
Grenz, S., Guretzki, D., & Nordling, C. F. (1999).

involves more than a mere moral reformation of character, brought about by the power of the truth: it is the work of the Holy Spirit bringing the whole nature more and more under the influences of the new gracious principles implanted in the soul in regeneration.
In other words, sanctification is the carrying on to perfection the work begun in regeneration, and it extends to the whole man (; ; ; ; ).
It is the special office of the Holy Spirit in the plan of redemption to carry on this work (; ).
Faith is instrumental in securing sanctification, inasmuch as it (1) secures union to Christ (), and (2) brings the believer into living contact with the truth, whereby he is led to yield obedience
Easton, M. G. (1893).

There are 3 levels of sanctification that we are at simultaneously.
we were sanctified:
GOD has set apart a group of people for an uncommon use which is to be vessels of Grace to show the world HIS Love and mercy and to preach the GOOD NEWS of salvation to those who would repent and the Wrath to come to those who don't.
This was done before the foundation of the world, and this is how the FATHER sees us though the Blood of JESUS CHRIST.
We are being sanctified:
This is the part where people get confused and become judgmental of others.
You will hear people say stuff like oh a true Christian wouldn't do that.
They clearly over look the fact that JESUS said to take the beam out of your own eye before you try to take the speck out of a brothers.
In JESUS gives an illustration of sanctification
Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit.
Every trial we go through and every time we are chastised by THE HOLY SPIRIT that is the pruning in a believers life so that we may produce godly fruit.
Paul makes it clear in that we really should rejoice in our chastisement from the LORD because we wont be condemned with the world.
But when we are judged, we are chastened by the Lord, that we may not be condemned with the world.
The writer of Hebrews continues this teaching in 12:8
But if you are without chastening, of which all have become partakers, then you are illegitimate and not sons.
So to be clear this is a ongoing process and you will not reach perfection until 1 of 2 things happen either you go to be with the LORD in GLORY or THE LORD splits the sky and all who have been granted SALVATION will be transformed in a twinkling of an eye, and that is when we will be completely sanctified which is commonly refereed to as Glorified.
We will be sanctified:
There really not a whole lot I can say about this other than one day we who were set apart in the beginning will be perfect lacking nothing and take on the likeness of JESUS our Savior.
But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.
being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ;
In a instance in the twinkling of an eye we will be transformed into the likeness of JESUS CHRIST.
We will be glorified!
We will be completely cleansed from all the sin that was in in us!
There will no sin found in us!
At that point that sanctification process will be completed in us!
(NKJV)
(NKJV)
But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.
The work GOD does through us - service
(Eph 2:8–10) For by grace you have been saved through faith.
And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, 9 not a result of works, so that no one may boast.
10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.
We were not made to be pew warmers !
we were not call to come and soak!
We were not called to be the smartest theologians in town !
Now please understand me all of these thing have their place.
they are not wrong all by them self.
it becomes wrong when this is your comfort zone and you refuse to get busy with KINGDOM Work.
there is a good work out there that had your name on it that GOD has assigned to you & it is our job in this local body to help you find it and shore you up in any way that we can so that you can do it to the best of your ability to the glory of GOD! as we help you find your calling
So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.
Col 3:17 And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
7 The end of all things is at hand; therefore be self-controlled and sober-minded for the sake of your prayers.
8 Above all, keep loving one another earnestly, since love covers a multitude of sins.
9 Show hospitality to one another without grumbling.
10 As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace: 11 whoever speaks, as one who speaks oracles of God; whoever serves, as one who serves by the strength that God supplies—in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ.
To him belong glory and dominion forever and ever.
Amen.
