Lk 1:37. Dan Kroon. Promises depend completely on one's power to keep them and no one can promise what they're unable to deliver. The story of Christmas highlights to us that God keeps his promises and can do anything. So, because he can do anything, he can promise anything, no matter how unbelievable it may seem. He can promise a child to a virgin. He can promise a King to a dwindling, oppressed nation. He can promise a Saviour to a dying world. And that's exactly what he does. He promises everything – life, love and forgiveness – to those who believe, and he has the power to fulfill those promises completely. Jesus is that fulfillment. Jesus is that amazing display of power.
