Jn 17. Jordan Gommer. People reveal what matters to them in their private conversations with those they are closest to. In John 17, Jesus invites us to listen in on his conversation with the Father, and reveals to us what his desire is: for us to know him. God seeks first his own glory, as his is right as Lord of all things, but does so through the special, intimate work of the Trinity, a relationship full of perfect love and unity, in which the Father, Son and Spirit all seek to glorify each other. God desires that we know this love, so that we will glorify him for the love he has shown us, which Jesus tells us is the same love that the Father has for the Son, and so that we as believers would be united in love and purpose just as God is, which will also be to His glory.
