Meaning of incarnation

The pre-incarnation or preexistence of Jesus Christ:
MEN’S BIBLE STUDY is tomorrow at 8 AM.  All men and young men are invited.  Pastor Caleb will continue his study through the book of Ezekiel.
The word incarnation means the adding on of flesh. We must realize that Jesus is eternal and was sent by God the father to add on humanity and was born by the power of the Holy Spirit by the womb of a virgin.
SUNDAY
Meaning of incarnation: The word incarnation means the adding on of flesh. We must realize that Jesus is eternal and was sent by God the father to add on humanity and was born by the power of the Holy Spirit by the womb of a virgin.
SUNDAY SCHOOL BREAKFAST is at 9:30 AM.  Everyone is invited.  Breakfast is free.

Preexistence

Ryrie says that the preexistence of Jesus means, “He existed before His birth (273).” MacArthur says, “Christ has always existed as the Son of God bu became a child only at the moment of his miracles conception (237).”
SUNDAY SCHOOL & THE LORD’S SUPPER is at 10 AM.

Evidence for preexistence

Berkhof says this, “His active participation in this historical fact is stressed, and His preexistence is assumed. It is not possible to speak of the incarnation of one who had no previous existence (333).”
The sermon for the 11 AM MORNING SERVICE will be part two of a four part series, “God is Able to do Far More than You Think.”  The Scripture text is Ephesians 3:20-21.  Part 2 of the series is entitled “Exceeding Abundantly Beyond.”

Understanding the Trinity

We must remember that the trinity is One God in essence three in persons. This means that each person is a distinct person and they have distinct functions. Each of these members have the same power, attributes and receive equal glory.

The relationship of the Pre-incarnation Christ with the trinity

Dwells in another ()

Knows another ()

The Ministry of the Pre-incarnation Christ

Counsel of God’s decree:

Dr. Chafer says this about these eternal decrees, “God is said to have given us grace in Christ from eternal ages, meaning that the gift took place as the result of a divine purpose fixed from eternity, so here He is said to have promised eternal life before eternal times, meaning that the promise took place as the result of a purpose fixed from eternity (27).”

The Scripture both teach and imply this truth

Implied by the doctrine of election

Scriptures do speak of future blessings which were ordered in the past ()

Christ speaks of his previous commission ()

Jesus receives the church as his reward of fulfilling his mission ()

Creation

Berkhof says this about creation, “All things are at once out of the Father, through the Son, and in the Holy Spirit. In general it may be said that being is out fo the father, thought or idea out of the Son, and life out of the Holy Spirit.”

He is Creator (, , , , , )

Creation serves his purposes ()

Creation is sustained ()

Angel of the Lord

The Angel of Yahweh claims to be the same as Yahweh (; , , , , Judge 2:1-4, 5:23, 6;11-22, 13:3-22, , , , ).

The Angel of Yahweh distinguishes between Himself and Yahweh (, ).

The Angel of Yahweh’s activity: Messanger (, , )

Guided and protected Israel (, , )

Agent of Judgment ()

Agent of refreshment (1 King 19:5-7)

Waiting for his incarnation

To act as a mediator and revealer of God ()
