Provision in the Desert

, , ,
Thesis: God provides in desert places through faith and thanksgiving.
Desert (eremos, er-ay-mos) solitary, desolate, uninhabited, wilderness, neglected, lonesome
Story: miracles happen every day, but when it happens right before your eyes or close enough that you have a birds eye view; you can’t help but be touched in a more profound way. When you are privied to what was...the bad, the ugly and you are forced to believe that there has to be a God or a more excellent way. When you know God to be a healer, provider, way-maker and the opportunity arises for him to show up and show out. Then He does...quicker than you had imagined. When the odds are against you and b/c of your desert ppl expect the worst but God looks not at your past but your present. That was my experience this week. When that happens, you can’t help but want more of the one who inspires you, captivates you and is compassionate towards you.
That was the situation in this text.
Jesus took his disciples to a deserted place to retreat.
Prior to that Jesus had been healing the diseased and the people who experienced it wanted more of what he had to offer, therefore they followed him to the mountains in spite of the fact there was no food for their physical body.
The scripture says he was moved with compassion for them for they were like sheep scattered
They outwent Him
Have ever been so desperate for change or more of God that even though the church is fasting on Wednesday you decided I’m getting a head start and I’m starting on Monday!
