Fear is often the result of not knowing the what will happen.
1 The words of Nehemiah the son of Hacaliah. Now it happened in the month of Chislev, in the twentieth year, as I was in Susa the citadel,
2 that Hanani, one of my brothers, came with certain men from Judah. And I asked them concerning the Jews who escaped, who had survived the exile, and concerning Jerusalem.
3 And they said to me, “The remnant there in the province who had survived the exile is in great trouble and shame. The wall of Jerusalem is broken down, and its gates are destroyed by fire.”
4 As soon as I heard these words I sat down and wept and mourned for days, and I continued fasting and praying before the God of heaven.
15 For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, “Abba! Father!”
16 The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God,
17 and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, provided we suffer with him in order that we may also be glorified with him.

Rom 8:15
Nehemiah received bad news. The people he loved and the country he loved were in trouble. His heart ached. He didn’t know what to do.
Fear is a characteristic of a life without Christ.
In in these times, when you are the recipient of bad news, that fear
Fear imprisons a person—holding them captive.
Fear is an emotion motivated by hopelessness.
As a result, fear leads us to take matters into our own hands:
Fear leads us away from God.
Fear drives us away from who we are in Christ.
