002 Anatomy of the Man our Mouth

Intro:
What is associated with the words that we speak?
Our voice: People reconize our voices.
Acts 12:14 KJV 1900
And when she knew Peter’s voice, she opened not the gate for gladness, but ran in, and told how Peter stood before the gate.
Acts 12:
ILL. People call me and don’t say who it is, just start talking.
We speak with our Mouth, our mouth is made up made up of three parts.
Tongue: taste, licking, like ice, frosting on a cake.
Lips: What are lips good for? Kissing.
Psalm 66:14 KJV 1900
Which my lips have uttered, And my mouth hath spoken, when I was in trouble.
Psalm 66:4
We form words with our tongue.
I. God’s Words; What does God’s Word accomplish?
Isaiah 55:11 KJV 1900
So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: It shall not return unto me void, But it shall accomplish that which I please, And it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.
Psalm 66:44
A. God’s Word is powerful, life giving and creative
Psalm 33:6 KJV 1900
By the word of the Lord were the heavens made; And all the host of them by the breath of his mouth.
Ps.
a. God said, and it was done.
Psalm 33:9 KJV 1900
For he spake, and it was done; He commanded, and it stood fast.
Ps
B. God’s Word brings judgement
Hosea 6:5 KJV 1900
Therefore have I hewed them by the prophets; I have slain them by the words of my mouth: And thy judgments are as the light that goeth forth.
Hosea
C. God’s Word gives faith to those that hear His Word
Romans 10:17 KJV 1900
So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
D. It governs and maintains the created order
Hebrews 1:3 KJV 1900
Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;
It governs and maintains the created order
E. Our words should be control by God’s Word.
Jeremiah 1:9 KJV 1900
Then the Lord put forth his hand, and touched my mouth. And the Lord said unto me, Behold, I have put my words in thy mouth.
Who made made’s mouth…I will teach what to say
F.
Moses didn’t want to go, used the excuse what will I say, God said I will teach thee
We are God’s creation, created in His image, born again, new creation in Christ, and the Word we say should be control by our Creator, and should be a reflection of who we are in Christ.
II. Our words that come out of our mouth, that are formed by our tongue and cross our lips, has the power either to build up our tear down.
Proverbs 15:4 KJV 1900
A wholesome tongue is a tree of life: But perverseness therein is a breach in the spirit.
Proverbs 18:21 KJV 1900
Death and life are in the power of the tongue: And they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.
Words are very powerful, some people know this, and use it for good and or for bad.
sometimes I just think people don’t think what they are saying?
Are words are powerful that they can destroy ones spirit
to the point of one thinking so low of themselves they don’t want to live.
ILL. …boy was being teased so he jumped out the window
Death and life are in the power of the tongue
Proverbs 18:14 KJV 1900
The spirit of a man will sustain his infirmity; But a wounded spirit who can bear?
Provebs 18:14
ILL. doing some research for this message…type in the effects of hurtful words…medical research says that hurtful and mean words, verbal abuse has an effect upon the brain…shouldn’t use the word no to a child…people that use hurtful words are their caveman insticts...

Proverbs 18:14

14  The spirit of a man will sustain his infirmity;

But a wounded spirit who can bear?

Bible says a wholesome tongue is a tree of life
ILL. Have been really discourage, and God just sends someone your way that all they do is open their mouth with wholesome…deputation very discourage, tried of being up front and on display...Pastor said, we are here to be a blessing to you...

(Matthew 12:34–37

Matthew 12:34–37 KJV 1900
O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh. A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things. But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment. For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.

Keep Your Mouth Shut
Source Unknown
Once there was a lady who was the most notorious gossip in the church. One day, she came down the aisle one Sunday morning and took her minister by the hand and said, "I am really burdened…the Lord has convicted me of my gossip and I want to change." And the minister said, "Well, what do you intend to do about it." She said, "I want to lay my tongue on the altar." The minister said, "Honey, I don't think we've got an altar big enough."
The morals of the story are:
1. Not everyone who drops manure on you is your enemy.
2. Not everyone who digs you out of a pile of manure is your friend.
3. When you're in the manure, keep your mouth shut!

(Matthew 12:34–37)
