Last week we saw how Jesus is God and was with God in the beginning. All of creation was made through him and for him. Since Jesus was not only God, but that he was also with God the Father that there was a perfect love relationship before time began. A perfect, objective Father/Son/Holy Spirit type love that we can look to when we are confused about love expressed in distorted forms all around us (and through us).
Today we will see that Jesus is not only God from eternity past, and had all the attributes of God (omniscience, omnipotence, omnipresence (Spirit), etc), but that he chose to limit those attributes by becoming a human being. Flesh and blood.
John 1:14 ESV
And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.

Why did God become a man?

Romans 8:3 ESV
For God has done what the law, weakened by the flesh, could not do. By sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin, he condemned sin in the flesh,

Why is that significant?

How does that effect my life?

Philippians 2:3–8 ESV
Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others. Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.
