1 Samuel 17:8–10 KJV 1900
And he stood and cried unto the armies of Israel, and said unto them, Why are ye come out to set your battle in array? am not I a Philistine, and ye servants to Saul? choose you a man for you, and let him come down to me. If he be able to fight with me, and to kill me, then will we be your servants: but if I prevail against him, and kill him, then shall ye be our servants, and serve us. And the Philistine said, I defy the armies of Israel this day; give me a man, that we may fight together.

Attacks will come when you are spiritually weak

The Philistines were beaten before,
but because of Saul’s anger and pride God did not go with him to finish the battle
1 Samuel 14:37 KJV 1900
And Saul asked counsel of God, Shall I go down after the Philistines? wilt thou deliver them into the hand of Israel? But he answered him not that day.
1 sam 14 37
Now they come back again after Saul and Samuel(the man of God) are separated and fighting
are separated and fighting
Saul has not good spiritual advisor
Saul has not been listening to the word of the LORD

Attacks will begin with intimidation and lies

Intimidation - garjan-tarjan
to intimidate - dhamkyaaunu
Trying to give fear
Why did you even come?
Look at us!
We are big
We are strong
We are soldiers
You are farmers
You are servants
Just gathered for war(yuddhha)
You have no chance(maaukaa) at victory
Here is an opportunity for you all to lose
But only one life will be lost
Only one person will be killed
You will lose
Just quit and save your lives
Don’t die, be our slaves
Satan says, Just quit!
Be my slave
It is easier than serving the Lord
It is a better ending than serving the Lord
Fighting is difficult
Fighting is bloody(raktaamme)
Compromise(samjhaautaa garnu), quit(chodnu)
Be my slave
But the fear Satan gives is based on lies
We have victory in Jesus
1 Corinthians 15:57 KJV 1900
But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Romans 8:37 KJV 1900
Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.
Through Jesus Christ, we find victory...

The attack will call to our flesh

Goliath didn’t call out God
He called out a “man”
The devil calls us to fight him
Alone
In the flesh
Without our God
That is a battle he will win every time!
He will win every time
If we forget the Lord
If we don’t prayer
If we don’t walk in the spirit
When a man goes to battle against the devil
Defeat(paraajaya) will come to him!
Victory is found throughout Christ!
When we live in the Spirit
Ephesians 6:12 KJV 1900
For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
Ephesians 6:10 KJV 1900
Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
And that is what David did
He didn’t go to battle and brag about his dead lion and bear
He didn’t go bragging about his king
He didn’t go to battle bragging about Israel’s army and it’s victories
He went in the name of the Lord:
1 Samuel 17:45–47 KJV 1900
Then said David to the Philistine, Thou comest to me with a sword, and with a spear, and with a shield: but I come to thee in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom thou hast defied. This day will the Lord deliver thee into mine hand; and I will smite thee, and take thine head from thee; and I will give the carcases of the host of the Philistines this day unto the fowls of the air, and to the wild beasts of the earth; that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel. And all this assembly shall know that the Lord saveth not with sword and spear: for the battle is the Lord’s, and he will give you into our hands.
“the LORD deliver thee into mine hand...”
“that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel.”
Ephesians 6:12 KJV 1900
For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
“…the LORD saveth…he will give you into our hands.”
Go with the Lord
In the power of his might
Don’t fall into the devil’s trap(fandaa)
