"lightning and hail, snow and cloud, stormy wind that executes his command,” ()
8 "lightning and hail, snow and cloud, stormy wind that executes his command,” ()
So if we know that God’s decree is unchanging and that says, “God’s solid foundation stands firm”, then in His sovereignty how may we see the words “stormy wind”?
When the stormy winds of affliction come (and they will come) may the Lord’s grace teach us to say, “This is nothing other than the execution of His command and I love God and trust God and I know and am convinced that He is all powerful and all wise, therefore I will trust in Him!
6 "The Lord does whatever he pleases in heaven and on earth, in the seas and all the depths.” ()
Can I just insert another comfort for God’s blessed people?People often make promises that they are unable to fulfill, but God has infinite power to execute all His promises, whether small or great.
While men promise mountains but deliver molehills,
God promises His saints two whole worlds (this life and the life to come) and performs better than any.
He cannot be hindered by weakness, for that is a mark of the creature and not of the Creator (; ; ).
While men’s promises are subject to deficiency because of their lack of power and their ever changing desires,
Not in any way shape or fashion with the promises of God, whose power no … obstructions or defects can arise to hinder, whose will no "accidents” or emergencies can pop out to alter any of God’s plan.
God’s will obtains and hath the upper hand every where.
Down man,
down devil;
you must yield; things shall not be as you will, but as God will!
Can you see how this teaching of God’s sovereignty enables us to lay hold upon promises like these?
"Now to him who is able to do above and beyond all that we ask or think according to the power that works in us—” ()
Knowing about the sovereign power of God helps us and secures us to believe that God is able to do above and beyond all that we ask or think according to the power that works in us!
33 "The lot is cast into the lap, but its every decision is from the Lord.” ()
God isn’t just in the mundane, He’s Lord over it!
He doesn’t just permit the lot to be cast but He governs it!
So we’ve got the Pacific Ocean on one side of us and the Atlantic Ocean on the other side of us, who’d limits and bounds have been set by God.
We live and breathe as the Israelites did in the midst of the Red Sea; this is a daily miracle.
Chance and luck to not belong to a Christian man’s vocabulary!
