Matthew 18King James Version (KJV)

21 Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times?
22 Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven.
23 Therefore is the kingdom of heaven likened unto a certain king, which would take account of his servants.
24 And when he had begun to reckon, one was brought unto him, which owed him ten thousand talents.
25 But forasmuch as he had not to pay, his lord commanded him to be sold, and his wife, and children, and all that he had, and payment to be made.
26 The servant therefore fell down, and worshipped him, saying, Lord, have patience with me, and I will pay thee all.
27 Then the lord of that servant was moved with compassion, and loosed him, and forgave him the debt.
28 But the same servant went out, and found one of his fellowservants, which owed him an hundred pence: and he laid hands on him, and took him by the throat, saying, Pay me that thou owest.
29 And his fellowservant fell down at his feet, and besought him, saying, Have patience with me, and I will pay thee all.
30 And he would not: but went and cast him into prison, till he should pay the debt.
31 So when his fellowservants saw what was done, they were very sorry, and came and told unto their lord all that was done.
32 Then his lord, after that he had called him, said unto him, O thou wicked servant, I forgave thee all that debt, because thou desiredst me:
33 Shouldest not thou also have had compassion on thy fellowservant, even as I had pity on thee?
34 And his lord was wroth, and delivered him to the tormentors, till he should pay all that was due unto him.
35 So likewise shall my heavenly Father do also unto you, if ye from your hearts forgive not every one his brother their trespasses.
King James Version (KJV)
Prayer:
Called to the impossible.
(Killing)
ON April 2015 ,in Lexington, KY 22 year Salahuddin Jitmoud was going through his normal process of delivering pizzas for Pizza Hut. The night was coming to an end, and he had one more delivery to make. He drove to the apartment complex where the final call and come from and Parked, and went looking for the apartment number, it was at this Moment that Trey Relford and two accomplises Ambushed him. Salahuddin was fatally stabbed and Robbed. Police Found him in an alleyway.
When an investigation was done, it was found that Trey Relford and his accomplises had been calling different Pizza delivery resturants and stalking the drivers, but it was Salahuddin, who they had zeroed in on robbed and murdered.
2 years in later on November 17th of LAst year Trey Relford sat in a courtroom waiting to be sentenced by the Judge for The Murder of Salahuddin. It is customary in murder cases to allow family members of the victim, to speak about the impact of the Murder upon them, right before the sentence is given. It had come to that time.
At moment that the Father of the Salludin, to address the court and sons killer.
Everything had been routine that day, everthing had been normal, except what Abdul Jitmoud next.
He had been instruced not to look his sons killer in the eyes, But he turned to the Trey and paused he said to him,
I am not angry with you.
“I’m angry at the devil. I blame the devil, who misguided you to do such a horrible crime,” NO I don’t blame you I am not angry at you at all. And I forgive you on behalf of Salluhidean and his Mother. I forgive you, I forgive you.”
The conviction in the Father voice, and the serene look of peace upon face of the Father
:(Paint the Picture)
The Courtroom sat there transfixed and shocked. The judge who was about to the sentencing was overcome by what was going on, and began to cry. And she called for a momentary break in the hearing.
When the hearing started up again, the man responsible for the Death of the son Stood up and stood up to give his statement,
“I’m sorry about what happened that day,” with his voice trembling “I do applaud you because it takes a powerful man to know that someone has hurt them and to get up there and say what you just said. There is nothing I can do… I thank you for your forgiveness.” And with that he began to cry. So much to point that he began to wipe his eyes wiped his eyes on the collar of his orange jail-issued shirt.
But at that moment, something happened, that those that saw it will never forget, something that they will take to their graves.
The Abdul Jitmoud, the father of the slain Pizza Delivery man, walked to his sons killer, and gave him a tissue, it turned into a hand shake and ultimatley an embrace and it turned into ino embrace. And as he held his sons killer in his arms who crying, he was over heard saying.
“Don’t worry, (It is past )it’s over, you have a new chapter in life,”
“A new beginning , go and do what is right.”
Are you shocked this morning.
(Transition)
What happened in this courtroom went Viral on social media it was showed all over the news, it was on Cnn and all the outets. Because there is something otherwordly about true forgiveness IT is a rare site. And that is why when we hear about things like this it is almost strange.
The Mother of Killer, said.
I was shocked to see this man forgive my son.
Hopefully you will never have to go through what that Father endured, losing your son.
But I need to let you know that if you live long enough….
Somebody is going to hurt t you,
someone body is going to betray you,
somebody is going to treat wrong way,
Somebodies going to lie ont you, some is gonna dog you out.
And you will be put in situation, where you will be called upon to forgive.
But if we are honest with ourselve
Forgiveness is not the thing that comes to us easy... us It more natural to us be unforgiving. It is natural for us to want vengence,, it is natural despise those that despise us. and to Burn with Wrath against those that hurt us, persecute us, and use us.
Forgiveness is not easy.
(TRansition to the TExt)
And Im text this morning, Peter was struggling with this concept of Forgiveness.
Jesus (had been explaining what to do when someone sins against you. )
Lord, Often should I my brother sin against me and I forgive him?
Implicit in question is the idea that Forgiveness is a test of endurance. How often do I have to do something. How many times do I have to forgive.
You don’t ask how many times you have to do something when you enjoy it, pleasant.
You ask how many times you have to do something, when you would much rather not do it.
Illustration:
I remember one of the things I had to Graduate Oakwood, was I had to go PE class. I Had to run against these 18 years old. 35 years
WE kept going around the track.
How many times!!!!
And this is the spirit that Birth Peters Question, how many times do I have forgive?
21 Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times?
Till 7 times.
The rabbis (Or Spiritual LEader, Pastors) limited the exercise of forgiveness to three offenses.
This was the common understanding of the day.
If some sins against you once you can forgive
Twice you forgive them.
Three times you forgive them.
That’s it,
Peter, carrying out, as he supposed, the teaching of Christ, thought to extend it to seven, the number signifying perfection.
Peter felt he was going above and beyond.
Perhaps Peter, he would receive pat on the back by JEsus, well done Peter 7
But then Jesus Blows his mind and says no Peter.
22 Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven.
490 and times. Jesus was asking us to become sin accountants and keep track, and say you have done this to me 490 times.
In taking the number of perfection and Multiplying it by 70, he was trying to show us that true forgiveness is not limited by numbers, Christ taught that we are never to become weary of forgiving. Not “Until seven times,” but until seventy time 7. This doesn’t compute he must mean, because implications.
It would mean no matter how many times someone mistreats you, you should forgive .
It doesn’t matter the quantity, Or frequency.
And maybe that doesn’t sit right with you, because There person has hurt to much, and forgive him, and forgiven, But I’m forgiving anymore. That person doesn’t deserver.
My Forgiveness Shop is closed this morning.
We must put no limit
1.There is no limit to forgiveness, we should forgive without limit.
How does that make you feel honestly
(Transistion to 2nd Point)
Peter wasn’t feeling it though, there was something that didn’t seem to be just about this. Jesus picked this up, and went into a story to explain, expand what he just said.
The modern mind understand what how much was owed. 10,000 Talents , so let me give you better how much in debt, this Servant was to the king.
I want you to put yourself in Servants shoes.
We have to begin the days wage for a typical Worker.
The denarius was one day’s wage for a typical day laborer, who worked six days a week with a Sabbath day of rest.
the typical laborer worked 50 weeks of the year and earned an annual wage of 300 denarii
Now suppose you continued to work as a day laborer earning 300 denarii each year. After 20 years of such labor, you will have earned 6,000 denarii.
That’s enough to pay back one talent.
In order to pay back the full amount, 9999
repaying the full 10,000 talents would require working 200,000 YEARS!
He would never have enough money in Life, to pay back the Debt that he owed to his Lord.
The King new he would never be able to pay the debt it,
Vs 27 says
27 Then the lord of that servant was moved with compassion, and loosed him, and forgave him the debt.
He gave the servant something better than he asked, He canceled the need for him to pay.
And the King, absorbed the Loss. And the King ended up having to pay for the debt.
Do you want to know why we should forgive?
(RUn Is starting to begin)
We are that servant, and our 10,000 Talents represents our sins.
we were irresponsibe servants and we ran up the Bill on our sin account,
We Ran up The bill - When we didn’t live Right
We ran up the Bill when we are unfaitfhul to him
We Ran up the Bill, When GOd said turn right and we Turn to the left.
We ran up fhe bill when we didsn’t stand for what is right.
we were all scheduled for Destruction, We were about to lose everything.
But the King of stepped in and
had compassion,
he loosed from a debt,, and paid it himself.
Jesus Paid It all ,
All to him I owe
Sin has left a crimson stain he Washes it White as snow.
(Keep Going.)
The devil may have tried to make you feel hopeless this week.
that you are beyond salvation.
The Devil may made you feel that you have sinned one to many times. That you have out sinned the Grace of God.
But the Bible Says if
If you confess yours sins he is faithful and Just to forgive you of your sins and cleanse you from all unrighteousness
The bible says
though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.
The Bible says
For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is his mercy toward them that fear him.
The Bible says

Chapter Parallel Compare
12 as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.
We can Be forgiven !!!
We can Be saved!!!
WE can make it !!!! ,
BEcaue he forgave us our debt and Paid it debt in full.
IS there anybody in here that can take about 10 Seconds to Thank Him!!!
Thank him for his Forgivess
Thank or his Mercy,
Thank him for hisCompassion
Thank him his Grace is greater than all our sins!!!
Brothers and Sisters when we think of the amount of sin that it represented
10,000$
There is no quantity of sin, that you can commit, that God can’t forgive.
God can cover the cost of our sin.
Tells us this point.
(point)
No one is going to lost because they Out Sin God grace, people will be lost because they stop going to him for forgiveness.
Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.
The more we engage in sin, it no longer appears sinful, we ignore the voice of the Holy spirit, till we can no longer hear his voice, and then we don’t go to him for forgiveness.
As the story continues
27 So the Servant in the Parable is loosed from the Debt.
(He didn’t have patience him, but throuh him into prison. FEllow servants went to tell )
32 Then his lord, after that he had called him, said unto him, O thou wicked servant, I forgave thee all that debt, because thou desiredst me:
33 Shouldest not thou also have had compassion on thy fellowservant, even as I had pity on thee?
The fellow servant represents people who have sinned against us. The common understanding of this parable is that 100 pence is not a lot of money.
And therefore the servant should have defintely forgiven the debt.
In thinking of 100pents as a few cense, or lose change It minimizes the wickeness that people have done toward us. 100 pence was not small amount
You 100 denarri. If you remember a the typical made 300 a year.
100 denarii was one-third of a year’s salary, or four months’ wages.
God is not minimizing the sin, that others have done to you. You have been wrong.
You were neglected, you were abused, you were cheated on, you were lied on. You were abandoned. The things that people have done to you were not trivial.
But when you compare 10,000 Talents to 100 Denarri.
60,000,000 denarri to 100
We realize that we have done far more wrong to God, that that person has ever do to us,
Almost 1 millions to one.
Has someone spat on us, you have Spat on God million time more
Has someone betrayed you, you have betrayed God 7 fold. Has someone committed Adultery on you, you have committed Adultery on GOd 7 fold.
We have done more evil to the Lord and done him wrong, more than anyone has done to us
If God forgives us, we must forgive. How Unfair, and unreasonable we can be.
THis was the Basis of the Kings Argument
32 Then his lord, after that he had called him, said unto him, O thou wicked servant, I forgave thee all that debt, because thou desiredst me:
33 Shouldest not thou also have had compassion on thy fellowservant, even as I had pity on thee?
But you may argue, they don’t derserve forgiveness,
But if you Look back in the parable Neither do we.
King never forgave out of merit. He forgave because of his goodness.
The Basis of our forgiveness is not that the person deserves it. the reason why we should forgive is that God has forgives us.
Transition to last point.
Despite the great, forgiveness of the King the Servant still couldn’t forgive his fellowserant, and through the him prison. And you may be asking how can I forgive what this person has done.
God shows us how. In verse
The natural Heart can’t forgive ….
Jeremiah

:9King James Version (KJV)

9 The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?
True Forgiveness -
Forgiveness
2
: to cease to feel resentment against (an offender)
to stop feeling anger toward (someone who has done something wrong)
In God calling us to forgive he is calling us to connection with him.
He know you can’t forgive by yourself.
.
15:5 With out me you can do nothing.
When God calls to the impossible he is calling us to be empowered.
Appeal:
1st Person.
You may have a Sister A Daughter, a Brother a Parent, Someone in your life, that you have not forgiven.
Somebody needs to make it right in this Church. Blood fueds. If you can’t speak to them, that is a good sign that you are harboring unforgiveness, if you can’t look at them. That is a good sign you are harboring unforgiveness. This stuff will keep us out of heaven.
Give me the Power to Forgive.
Don’t forgive them because they deserive it Forgive them because he forgave you!!!!
Appeal 2 this morning:
You see that God is a god of forgiveness, no matter what your life has looked like, he can make you clean. Do you want to give you your life to him through Baptism. You want him to pay the debt on your behalf this morning.
Our Forgiveness Hinges upon, our Forgiveness to Others.
