The Table is set!
Are you Hungry? or do you have all you want?
As you entered this building today are you seeking something you feel that your missing?
or are you here for a different reason?
In order to truly take what God has for you today you must be willing to take and eat.
The table is set today with the word of God and the feast is being served.
Will you come and eat today?
luke 14:1-6
Jesus asked a simple question that none of the educated men that were in the room dared to answer.
There was a man that was there in his presence that was suffering and Jesus not only seen a need but, an opportunity to teach.
Jesus made the most out of every opportunity that came along.
He knew the hearts of those that were in the room and why they were there.
They were not there to learn or be blessed by Christ’s teaching, they were there to conspire against him so they would not answer his questions even though they knew the right answer.
even though most of them there did not want to hear what he had to say, he took this opportunity to teach them.
luke 14:7-
luke 14:7-11
Last time we were together we talked about being your best you, right?
the way you be your best you is to be what God created you to be and do, this world tells continually that we are not good enough and we alway seek to be something we are not in turn makes us feel like we are not good enough when the whole time God is telling us we are if we are where he wants us to be.
we need to realize that we have a place and when we are were we are so-pose to be, it honors God and in turn he honors us above what we deserve.
This is what Jesus is telling these people here and telling us as well that God honors a humble heart that is not to full of himself to serve in the manner that God calls him.
luke 14:12-
When we come together who do we invite?
Who is is that we want around us?
We seek out those that ate like minded and those that we enjoy their company.
What does Jesus tell us to do?
This is a look into the Church that Jesus is about to establish.
there is nothing wrong with fellowship with like minded people and friends.
matter of fact there are times when this is needed.
But this is not what Jesus is referring to in this texted.
We cant be the church that Christ has called us to be if we keep out those that are hungry and in need of him.
we cant be who we are created to be if we never call out to those that need him.
The church was not born to cater to those that are in it rather to those that are outside of it wanting and seeking for something better.
Who are hungry for the word of God and don't even know it.
who are Ill and don't even realize just how deadly the life they are living is.
I know these are sometimes people that we don't really like, that are dirty and messy and sometime just plain stink because of the life that they live, but Jesus is telling us that I died for them too!!
I came for them too!
I love them too!
Jesus is telling us its our job to go out to them and seek them out.
to feed them, cloth them and do our part to heal them.
We run the risk of loosing our spot at the table that Jesus has prepared if we take for granted our spot at it.
lets look at the Parable of the Great Supper
luke 14:
This is what we run the risk of it we take for granted what Jesus has done for us.
We must always be ready to come to the table when he calls.
We are full of excuses why we cant go when he calls.
Whats your excuse for not being who God created you to be.
Is he not worth it?
Is what he has done for you not good enough?
When you put it like that sounds pretty harsh doesn't it?
I want you to notice something here beyond that something amazing!!
After all the work that the Church has done in the 2000 or so years that we have been alive, I need you to see this!
That there is still room!
There is always room for one more
I think of my Grandmother.
Her God called purpose was to serve others and most times Christ’s love shown in her life by the way of this, she couldn't stand to think that someone had to do without.
she always made room at the table for who ever was there.
It didn't matter who you was or where you came from if you was hungry she fed you, most time even if you was not hungry she was not happy unless you came to her table and ate.
This was the love of Christ shining though her in that Christ is the same way.
ALL ARE WELCOME AT THE TABLE and it our job to go out and compel them to come in to the feast that is prepared for them.
I doesn't matter who they are or where they came from.
what color there skin is.
What they've done.
how they talk, how tall they are or how short they are or how big they are or how little they are.
all are welcome to come to the table.
