Introduction

Greetings...
Preaching makes Bible study somewhat unique in that we are constantly looking at things from teach and preaching perspectives.
Today’s lesson comes from that idea. While looking at a concordance for on a different topic I noticed that the three points we will look at today, all connected to a tree, make for a good topical lesson.
In today’s lesson on “Three Trees” we will be looking at...
The Tree Of Concealment
The Tree Of Cherishing
The Tree Of Convenience

The Tree Of Concealment

Genesis 3:8 ESV
8 And they heard the sound of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and the man and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God among the trees of the garden.
Gen 3
Up to this point in Adam and Eve’s life, the voice of God had thrilled them to hear it.
Now they hide themselves because of sin God’s voice scared them.
Genesis 3:10 ESV
10 And he said, “I heard the sound of you in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked, and I hid myself.”

Summery

Sin makes us hide from God instead of run to God.

The Tree Of Cherishing

John 1:44–48 ESV
44 Now Philip was from Bethsaida, the city of Andrew and Peter. 45 Philip found Nathanael and said to him, “We have found him of whom Moses in the Law and also the prophets wrote, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.” 46 Nathanael said to him, “Can anything good come out of Nazareth?” Philip said to him, “Come and see.” 47 Jesus saw Nathanael coming toward him and said of him, “Behold, an Israelite indeed, in whom there is no deceit!” 48 Nathanael said to him, “How do you know me?” Jesus answered him, “Before Philip called you, when you were under the fig tree, I saw you.”
John 1:48 ESV
Nathanael said to him, “How do you know me?” Jesus answered him, “Before Philip called you, when you were under the fig tree, I saw you.”
Now as you can imagine Nathanael had no clue how the day was going to continue when he sat down under that tree.
Jn 1:44-46
However, Jesus did and it changed Nathanael’s life forever.

Summery

Life doesn’t often end up like it is assumed. Like throws curve balls and challenges.
However, when great spiritual opportunities come our way, no matter the plan for the day, we must cherish them and follow them wherever we can.

The Tree Of Convenience

Luke 19:3–6 ESV
3 And he was seeking to see who Jesus was, but on account of the crowd he could not, because he was small in stature. 4 So he ran on ahead and climbed up into a sycamore tree to see him, for he was about to pass that way. 5 And when Jesus came to the place, he looked up and said to him, “Zacchaeus, hurry and come down, for I must stay at your house today.” 6 So he hurried and came down and received him joyfully.
Zacchaeus climbed the tree out of convenience to see Jesus.
Zacchaeus climbed out of the tree out of curiosity.

Summery

Sometimes convenience can lead to lead to spiritual curiosity and growth.
Have you ever stopped by some place because it was convenient and end up striking a conversation with someone on spiritual matters that leads to your curiosity and growth.

Conclusion

The Bible is filled with all sorts of lessons, if we just take make the time to learn them.
God’s only desire is for us to walk with Him and end up in His home for eternity.
