Video: When Does a Boy Become a Man?
What is a man?
When does a boy become one?
Those are important questions.
A big part of the purpose of the men’s ministry at Southside is to help men learn what it means to be a man and equip and encourage them to live it out.
But not just any kind of man.
A godly man.
Curlew Widows Story
Men’s ministry has been vital to me ever since I made that discovery at a church I served.
Tony Evans Quote
My epiphany could best be summarized by the words I once heard pastor and writer, Tony Evans, preach…
As the man goes, so goes the family
As the family goes, so goes the church
As the church goes, so goes the community
As the community goes, so goes the city
As the city goes, so goes the state, nation, and finally, the world.
Men are not God’s only plan for making disciples who will transform the world for Christ.
Yet they are an important part of that plan.
A Key Scripture
One of the key verses that has meant a lot to us here at Southside is 1 Corinthians 16:13-14...
Every Sphere of Life
As I said, our ministry to men at Southside seeks to educate, equip, and encourage our men to grow in their relationship with Christ and one another... and then take their faith… their relationship... and live it out in every sphere of their lives...
at home with family
at church
at work
in the community
and when they’re all alone when no one else is looking
Get Connected
When it comes to growing these Kingdom-minded men, we believe there’s not even a close second in how to to do it than men gathering together to study Scripture together, to pray together, and to enjoy fellowship together.
Bob Gerzel - Monday night men
Carlton Devooght - Wednesday morning men
I should also mention we have a new group that just started this year that meets on Wednesday evenings.
All three studies begin this week and next… so you haven’t missed a single lesson.
Please join us.
Barry Henry - Getting connected at Southside
** These three men, and others who are in these groups, will hang around after to talk with you about our ministry and answer any questions you may have.
Bob Shallow
Bob serves with the C12 Group.
I’ll let Bob share the details of his ministry, but what I do want to say is that Bob is a “Kingdom-minded” brother who is making a difference for Christ in our business community as he helps others catch a vision for how they can serve Christ and his Kingdom in whatever setting God has placed them.
And Finally...
Copy of my book for our guests.
If you are a guest this evening, please make sure to get a copy of my book, Foundations for Godly Manhood, which covers the key foundations of walking with Christ.
(More on the way if we run out)
Sign up for the Walking Points Men’s Devotional, which comes out most Wednesday mornings.
Can use it alone or use it with other men you meet with.
