I. Man’s Guilt, 1:20; 2:1-3.

There are no legal loopholes for sinners in God’s justice system.
There is no such thing as community service or probation or getting out early because of good behavior or of having your case dismissed because your rights were violated. There is no such thing as time served. There is no finagling ourselves out of the position in which we find ourselves- that we are guilty of sin, standing condemned by God to serve out the sentence handed down by the High Court of Heaven-that being eternity in the lake of fire.
There is no such thing as time served. There is no finagling ourselves out of the position in which we find ourselves- that we are guilty of sin, standing condemned by God to serve out the sentence handed down by the High Court of Heaven-that being eternity in the lake of fire.
Sinners are without excuse. The word for excuse in the original language is a legal term meaning “without a reasonable defense.” In other words sinners do not have a leg to stand on. In the United Sates judicial system cases are usually dismissed for one of three reasons. 1. Procedural errors. 2. Insufficient evidence. 3. 4th amendment issues. Sometimes human error is involved, but sometimes there is just not enough evidence to prosecute. However, this is not the case in God’s courtroom. Because in God’s court room all are guilty. All have sin-stained souls. All are clad in filthy rags. All have fallen short of the glory of God. All are condemned. All have their sentence. And all are facing eternal separation from God in outer darkness where the fire is not quenched and the worm dieth not. The case against sinners is open and shut without the slightest possibility of reprieve.

God’s Wrath, 1:18; 2:3b, 5, 6, 8, 9.

Now, 1:18.

“He who believes in the Son has eternal life, but he who does not believe the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.”
“For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who suppress the truth in unrighteousness.”
One way that God exhibits His wrath on unbelievers is through the tailspin of sin, , , ; Ephesians 2:12.
The believer, , , , . Overcoming.
The believer, , , , .
Another way that God’s wrath is being revealed is through the futility of life, ; ,
; ,
The believer, ; . . Persevering.
And still the most solemn example of God’s wrath revealed is through death,
The believer, ; ; . Trusting.

Then, 2:3b, 5, 6, 8, 9.

One and Only Hope for Sinners, v.4.

The one and only hope for sinners is God’s kindness, 4. Paul talks about the riches of God’s kindness. Everything said about God’s kindness stems from his “riches”, including his kindness. Let’s look at three words and one concept that help us to further understand God’s kindness.
riches, wealth or riches
Of God’s kindness there is a vast supply. God’s kindness is a well that never will run dry.
“the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles, which is, Christ in you, the hope of glory.
“considering the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures of Egypt; for he was looking toward the reward.
God’s kindness is seen in His...
tolerance- “cease fire”
patience-faithfulness through opposition.
purpose- “His kindness leads us to repentance”
God’s targets us with His kindness so that we will turn to Jesus Christ.
“The LORD is not slow about His promise as some count slowness but is patient toward you, not wishing any to perish but that all might come to everlasting life.”
“The LORD is not slow about His promise as some count slowness but is patient toward you, not wishing any to perish but that all might come to everlasting life.”
