Every person of the Trinity is in action in the life of the believer:
Rom 8:The Holy Spirit has replaced in us the captivity to fear and timidity. Fear and timidity causes us to live half alive. Fear and timidity cause us to want to save our reputation, our treasures, our lives. The issue with this is that Jesus warned us that if anyone wanted to follow after him, they would need to deny themselves, pick up their cross daily, and follow after him. He also said that those who wanted to save their lives would lose them, BUT those who wanted to lose their lives because of his sake would find them in him. What path have you chosen? Saving your life of losing your life for his sake?
The Holy Spirit is creating a new type of generation that is not afraid of losing their lives for the sake of the one who salved them.
We should not be surprised about the challenges we experience through life. We are to live in the image of Jesus. Keep in mind that:
The weight of the future glory is not comparable with our current sufferings
v. 19 All creation is eagerly awaiting for the moment as if the entire creation was so desperate (just like a kid is eager throughout the driving to Disney, or the bride waiting for their bridegroom). All creation is asking God “are they here yet? Is this generation ready now? Are your children going to be engaged now? How long should I wait?”
V. 20 Futility, without purpose, without results: All the beauty, awe and potential of the entire creation was subjected to a purposeless existence until the moment that the children of God are revealed. We have no idea what creation is capable of. We haven’t seen the most amazing parts of creation because we have not yet taken our place. How will this corruption will cease to exist? How will all creation begin to experience greater purpose, beauty, and purity? Creation will experience true freedom when the children of God begin to take their place.
[find an illustration of something that was purposeless until I started using it and tie it up to v. 20 and the idea of futility]
How do I live this new courageous life?
Praying in the Spirit v.26-27
vv. 28-
36 Knowing Jesus suffered for us, overcame for us, is almighty, and is interceding on our behalf
There will be battles to fight
There will be challenges that will cause us to wonder if God is still on our side
DOn’t waste your time in sin-management mode. Live reaching forward
v. 37 Live as those who are victorious because Jesus conquered
Why does it matter? Because you are the key that unlocks redemption on earth as it will be in heaven
Wrap entire sermon to the entire creation waiting
The Whole creation is waiting for you and for me to be revealed (to be moved from behind the vail).
Do you still live behind the vail? Is your identity still a secret to society? Do you live like a conqueror?
Do you live with full confidence that God predestined for good works, not just for salvation?
Do you live with confidence that God has already wan the victory against sin in your life?
Do you live with the confidence that there is nothing that can separate you from the love of God?
