Lorraine’s Funeral Service
Lorraine’s Funeral Service
We are here to celebrate the life of Lorraine Ann (Stanley) Adams. Lorraine played the part of many roles, in her life. Whether she was your mother, sister, child or friend; I think you’d have to admit that your life was a little bit richer from having known her. If you knew Lorraine at all, you never had to wonder how she felt about you. She loved with everything she had inside her.
If I had to choose a word that summed up the last six months of her life, then it would have to be forgiveness. Lorraine must’ve known that she was on her way home to the Lord, because she did everything possible to make peace with all the people who were special to her. Whether it was to apologize, or to forgive, she took the initiative to make them feel special, and let them all know that she held no hard feelings toward any of them.
Lorraine was a believer in The Lord Jesus Christ. She trusted him for her salvation, and called him her Lord and Savior. I have no doubts that she is in His loving arms right now. As with all of us, I’m sure she had her doubts as well, but she never gave up on her faith, and God never gave up on her. I’m sure that the Lord walked her through the doorway of eternity, and welcomed her to her new home.
Knowing that Lorraine had a relationship with Jesus, has made her death easier to deal with. Because of the faith we shared, I know that I will see her again, on the other side of eternity. That is a promise from God, and that brings hope. It’s a hope that all of you can have as well. All it takes is a personal relationship with the creator and lover of your soul, and it’s really as easy as offering yourself, in prayer, to the Father, and receiving Christ Jesus as Lord and Savior.
It says in the book of 1 Thessalonians,
The Bible states, in the book of 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18
13 But we do not want you to be uninformed, brethren, about those who are asleep, so that you will not grieve as do the rest who have no hope.
14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who have fallen asleep in Jesus.
15 For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord, will not precede those who have fallen asleep.
16 For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first.
17 Then we who are alive and remain will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we shall always be with the Lord.
18 Therefore comfort one another with these words.
And again, let us listen to the words of Jesus, Himself, while he was speaking to Martha, the sister of Lazarus, just before Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead...
Gospel of John 11:23-27
New American Standard Bible: 1995 Update Chapter 11
23 Jesus *said to her, “Your brother will rise again.”
24 Martha *said to Him, “I know that he will rise again in the resurrection on the last day.”
25 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in Me will live even if he dies,
26 and everyone who lives and believes in Me will never die. Do you believe this?”
27 She *said to Him, “Yes, Lord; I have believed that You are athe Christ, the Son of God, even bHe who comes into the world.”
So this is the hope we have, of once again being with our sister Lorraine.
Let us pray...
