He’s Not Built For This!!
In the movie Brooklyn's Finest, one of the final sceens, the retired cop finds himself in the basement of a sex traffic ring.
And he is extremely overwhelmed in this dark disgusting culture.
He is confronted with the two men that are holding these women hostage.
One of the men can see on the cops face that he is not familiar with this lifestyle.. and even though he has a gun pointed to the man.
The bad guy tells his partner to take him because he’s not built for this!!!!!
Mark 10:17
Poverty has been described as the one thing money cannot buy.
It may also be one thing money cannot fix.
Accumulating wealth and establishing a charitable trust fund may be the most respectable option for people who make it to the top of the heap in Western cultures, but it is far from the solution Jesus put forward.
The rich man who ran up to kneel at Jesus’ feet had some insight into what Jesus had been trying to teach the disciples.
His appeal to Jesus as Good teacher may have been a piece of flattery
The comment that Jesus loved him would be out of character if he had detected anything deceptive
The Question:
what must I do to get eternal life?” (The Message: )
what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life?
The Message: the Bible in contemporary language ().
Colorado Springs, CO: NavPress.
What Must I DO!!!!! How do I get innn...
2. The Answer:
Your prob asking what does this have to do with my Consecration…
Look at somebody that needs a dentist appointment & tell the everything...
See he had mastered commandments so it was no longer obedience attached to sacrifice..
I have been doing this since i was a youth
3. The Challenge:
Jesus said that he lacked one thing, and then he told the rich man to do three things:
sell his possessions,
Jesus said that he lacked one thing, and then he told the rich man to do three things: sell his possessions, give the proceeds to the poor and follow him.
Of these three things the overriding idea is the call to become a disciple.
give the proceeds to the poor
follow him.
Of these three things the overriding idea is the call to become a disciple.
Jesus did not ask anything more of this man than he had asked of anyone else.
Giving up one’s life for the sake of Jesus and the kingdom of God is a radical thing to do.
Have you ever asked God a question, and you didn’t like the answer..
See the challenge was for him to help finance the kingdom, after all what would be any other reason God would bless him with all that money...
All your wealth will then be heavenly wealth.
Anyone God calls to something greater requires leaving or giving up something of value.. for the sake of The Gospel..
Lk 19.6
4. The Reality:
Jesus drove home the difficulty that wealth poses with these words: How hard it is for the rich to enter the kingdom of God!
See this was a shocking statement because just like todays culture we think expensive material is a sign of Gods favor!!
We might put it this way: if it is so hard for someone with the material tokens of God’s blessing to enter the kingdom, how much harder would it be for those who lack this sign of favor?
Jesus’ answer was both reassuring and provocative:
No chance at all if you think you can pull it off by yourself.
Every chance in the world if you let God do it.”
Please tell someone let God do it!!!
Mark 10:28
Are you really built for Heaven!
If you holding on to earthly wealth your not ready for heavenly wealth!!!
