Story: 17 year old and had a student ask a couple who was teaching a question, If I got hit by a train tonight and cussed right before I died would I go to Hell? That questions began a yearning in my soul to preach the Gospel, It was a defining moment in God calling me to ministry. I was saved, didn’t read the Bible much, prayed a little, felt strong conviction, but just began my thought pattern, Is God conditional?
Title: Complete Fellowship With Christ
Text:
1 john1:1-4
Application: Salvation should be secure in your life. Sometimes you may question your experience because of present sin. However, “you can know that you know that you know you are save.” The journey through 1 John will provide the security that many need in their relationship with Jesus.
1 John
1 John 1:1–4 NKJV
1 That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, concerning the Word of life— 2 the life was manifested, and we have seen, and bear witness, and declare to you that eternal life which was with the Father and was manifested to us— 3 that which we have seen and heard we declare to you, that you also may have fellowship with us; and truly our fellowship is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ. 4 And these things we write to you that your joy may be full.
2. You must have a ________________ ___________________ with others.
3. You must have a _________ _____________ in your life.
Compete Fellowship with Christ
What Was Heard, Seen, and Touched
Salvation- How do we know we have obtained it?
Salvation is a must know in your life. It is not I hope so, maybe, or an if… Salvation is what you can know you can know.
We will be here 15-20 Weeks...
Story of Lehigh asking guys that walked by: If you died today would you go to heaven? almost 100% answer is “ I Hope So”
Im telling you , You Can know
I preached this series 3 times:
Pastor wife, deacons daughter, deacons wife, and lady who died in her early 30’s got saved.
Another time I preached this series a man walked down the isle before the 1st chord on the piano striked...
You see doing is not a prerequisite for salvation but a yearning once saved.. JESUS PAID IT ALL
Why would we not want to serve the one who saved my soul..
Jesus warned, “For false Christs and false prophets will arise and will show great signs and wonders, so as to mislead, if possible, even the elect” (). They threaten to undermine the church (; ), seeking to lure it away from the truth
Matthew 24:24 NKJV
24 For false christs and false prophets will rise and show great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect.
Acts 20:29–30 NKJV
29 For I know this, that after my departure savage wolves will come in among you, not sparing the flock. 30 Also from among yourselves men will rise up, speaking perverse things, to draw away the disciples after themselves.
2 Timothy 3:1–5 NKJV
1 But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: 2 For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3 unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, 4 traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away!
Acts 20
For I know this, that after my departure savage wolves will come in among you, not sparing the flock. 30 Also from among yourselves men will rise up, speaking perverse things, to draw away the disciples after themselves.
Satan was the highest Angelic being, fell from heaven, tried to take the place of God, (failed) and his mission is to keep you from salvation (He does this by your own sin, others moral failures, and inside the church he does this by causing destruction from things that don’t really matter)
Let Me give you three things to know your Compete
1. You Have a personal Relationship with Jesus.
Today the culture has placed much work trying to say the Bible is full of errors and to say that means that God was not able to successfully show whom he is
1 John 1:1 NKJV
1 That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, concerning the Word of life—
1. Heard
2. Seen- - And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.
John 1:14 NKJV
14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.
3. Looked- - 16 For we did not follow cunningly devised fables when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of His majesty
2 Peter 1:16 NKJV
16 For we did not follow cunningly devised fables when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of His majesty.
4. Touched-John 20:27- Then He said to Thomas, “Reach your finger here, and look at My hands; and reach your hand here, and put it into My side. Do not be unbelieving, but believing.”
John 20:27 NKJV
27 Then He said to Thomas, “Reach your finger here, and look at My hands; and reach your hand here, and put it into My side. Do not be unbelieving, but believing.”
Peter- crucified by Nero upside down, James (son of Zebedee) killed by Herod, Andrew was crucified, Thomas thrown into pine spears red hot plats, burned alive, Philip was tortured and crucified, Matthew was beheaded, Nathanael flayed and crucified, James the Lesser was beaten to death by a club,
Simon the Zealot was crucified, Judas Thaddeus was beat to death with sticks, Mathias hung and stoned to death, and John boiled in hot oil.
Paul was beheaded
There was no doubt Jesus was indeed the Messiah and they died declaring Him as Lord.
That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, concerning the Word of life—
John 1:1 NKJV
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
**You see to understand salvation you have to 1st come to grips with a real salvation experience.
John had a real encounter with Christ, and you too can have a real encounter with Christ
An encounter that Jesus spoke to you (heard), looked into your life and saw the void, and you felt the touch of God in your life.
Those who preach the true gospel have always commanded :
People Must:
A. Have Faith and repentance from Sin (; ; ; ),
Matthew 4:17 NKJV
17 From that time Jesus began to preach and to say, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.”
John 3:16 NKJV
16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
Acts 2:38 NKJV
38 Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
Acts 17:30 NKJV
30 Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent,
Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand
B. Must declared that the kingdom of God is at hand (; ),
Matthew 3:2 NKJV
2 and saying, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand!”
Acts 19:8 NKJV
8 And he went into the synagogue and spoke boldly for three months, reasoning and persuading concerning the things of the kingdom of God.
C. Realize the merciful and gracious availability of divine forgiveness (; ),
Acts 10:43 NKJV
43 To Him all the prophets witness that, through His name, whoever believes in Him will receive remission of sins.”
Ephesians 1:7 NKJV
7 In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace
D. Reconcile to God through Jesus Christ ().
2 Corinthians 5:21 NKJV
21 For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.
2. You Have a Powerful Testimony to relate with others.
1 John 1:2–3 NKJV
2 the life was manifested, and we have seen, and bear witness, and declare to you that eternal life which was with the Father and was manifested to us— 3 that which we have seen and heard we declare to you, that you also may have fellowship with us; and truly our fellowship is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ.
1. Testify- I got a story
1. Testify- I got a story
9 years old
a. i knew I was a sinner
b. I was lost
c. Jesus died for me
d. He paid my sin debt
e. I repented of my sin
f. surrendered my life to him and was baptized.
( I just did not believe in a story)
2. Proclaim the gospel-Let me tell you about my Jesus
When you see Jesus you want others to see him too.
****This is where the alter gets full of people crying out to God, God save my daddy, save my brother, save my sister, save my son, save my daughter, save my grandchildren, its when a church gets real with God and their knees is apart of there walk….
The only way we will truly be able to connect is through Christ.
It is common ground.
3. You Have a void filled in your life.
Be sure the patient remains completely fixated on politics. Arguments, political gossip, and obsessing on the faults of people they have never met serves as an excellent distraction from advancing in personal virtue, character, and the things the patient can control.
Make sure to keep the patient in a constant state of angst, frustration, and general disdain towards the rest of the human race in order to avoid any kind of charity or inner peace from further developing.
Ensure the patient continues to believe that the problem is “out there” in the “broken system” rather than recognizing there is a problem with himself. Screw Tape Letters. C.S Lewis
Mutual love for those of the same spirit…. fellowship
1 John 1:4 NKJV
4 And these things we write to you that your joy may be full.
and truly our fellowship is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ. 4 And these things we write to you that your joy may be full.
complete- full Happy is the man who is saved.
