Opening Text:

15 Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ. 16 From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.

Intro

Theme: A Church That is Blessed To Be A Supporting Ligament
Talk about people wanting to be something other than…and the writer and occasion here

Ligament

A ligament is a fibrous connective tissue which attaches bone to bone, and usually serves to hold structures together and keep them stable.
supports and strengthens joints.
The main function of ligaments is to keep the bones of the skeleton in proper alignment and prevent abnormal movements of the joints. (holding the joint)

End of vs. 16

“as each part does it’s work”....
The purpose of each part doing it’s on work pushes us toward becoming more mature in Christ....

Point 1

In Order to Know that you are blessed, Point 1 - You Must Know Your Position

There is nothing wrong with not being seen in your support (bringing cups, cleaning the church etc....)
In the 22nd chapter of Numbers we find that Balaam had a supporting ligament that was not referenced as important…(speak)...

Point 2 - You Will Be Stretched

While ligaments are extremely strong, they can be stretched or even torn. This usually occurs during an extreme force such as a fall or another high impact. it is called a sprain

held together by every supporting ligament

Balaam beat his donkey...
folks stretch us…(but the blood of Jesus rushes to the stretching giving us strength)…(build itself up…by the support of the ligament)
Folks will hurt you while you are doing your job of supporting, but in your plan to please God

Point 3 - Don’t Give Up Just Get Treated

A common acronym for the treatment of a ligament injury is RICE, which stands for rest, ice, compression, and elevation.
Rest Your Spirit, Ice your response, compress your attitude and elevate your praise...
You’re blessed because your support helps build the body up in love...
You don’t have to be seen to be effective...
