Getting To My Due Season

Opening Text:

Galatians 6:9 NASB95

Let us not lose heart in doing good, for in due time we will reap if we do not grow weary.

And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.

9 And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up. 10 So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith.

Introduction

Our problem in most cases with getting Christianly tired is we are not seeing results from what we believe is sowing good seeds.

It’s hard and discouraging at harvest time when we either see no harvest or the harvest that we receive is disappointing.

I saw a quote that states If you are tired of what you are reaping, then change what you are sowing.

Paul the writer here is getting some things in order with the Galatians as he is here dealing with the Judaizers.

Judaizers:

those who taught a combination of God’s grace and human effort

The word Judaizer comes from a Greek verb meaning “to live according to Jewish customs

The doctrine of the Judaizers was a mixture of grace (through Christ) and works (through the keeping of the Law).

But Paul had received notice that the churches that he had started in Galatia had fallen into error and hard time due to the Judaizers trying to force all christians to fall subject to the Mosiac law…they had become the sphere of influence to the Galatians.

Paul writes this letter to refocus them and remind them of the good works that will produce a good harvest.

Vs. 9

Let us not grow...

In order for something to grow, a seed must first be planted. Here we find that the Judaizers are planting negative seeds in the minds of the Galatians.

When we allow for people to plant unfruitful seeds in our garden of the mind, we disallow for the right gardener to tend to the garden...

Weary

This word in the greek is en-ka-kayo (enkakeo) which means to be discouraged or faint

Webster defines it as this

: exhausted in strength, endurance, vigor, or freshness

2: expressing or characteristic of weariness a weary sign

3: having one's patience, tolerance, or pleasure exhausted —used with of soon grew weary of waiting

Being busy

Doing good does not necessarily mean being busy…when the devil can’t stop you, he will make you busy...

If you are to busy to fulfill what God’s will is for your life, which includes completing His plan for your life each day, it’s may be good to and for people but not fitting for God’s will.

Paul clearly paints a picture in all the way through our text.

let’s us know that we must allow faith to express itself through love…

says, 44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you..

let’s us know that we are to be like yeast…(a little impacts the whole batch of dough)

Yeast makes the dough rise.... the yeast produces carbon dioxides. The evolution of carbon dioxide causes expansion of the dough as it is trapped within the protein matrix of the dough.

Yeast strengthens the dough.. Yeast Causes dough to mature: This is accomplished by the chemical reaction of yeast produced alcohols and acids on protein of the flour and by the physical stretching of the protein by carbon dioxide gas. This results in the light, airy physical structure associated with yeast

Through the fermentation process yeast generates the flavor.....big molecules in proteins, starches, and fats don’t have much flavor, but when they break down into their building blocks—proteins into amino acids, starches into sugars, or fats into free fatty acids—they all have marvelous flavors. Fermentation, whether it’s acting on fruit juices to make wine or on flour to make bread, does exactly that—it breaks down large molecules into smaller, flavorful ones.

For you were called to freedom, brethren; only do not turn your freedom into an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another.

Chapter 5: 13

tells us..

13 You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love.

tells us..

16 So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. 17 For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever you want. 18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.

says...

Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.

These are the seeds we are to sow…if we get discouraged while doing the will of He who called us, ordained us, sent us, loves us, equipped us and set us free, we will never make it to the due season…don’t let weary cause you to miss your due season…and while you wait for your due season, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith.
