Introduction
Who will be rooting for the Patriots this afternoon?
Who will be rooting for the Eagles?
I believe God would root for the Eagles, you know why?
God loves a good underdog story.
Our whole ministry if based on this principle.
We are all underdogs when it comes to salvation and redemption. None of us can make it on our own.
Everyone needs Jesus to gain the victory.
It doesn’t matter where you come form or what you’ve done.
God will take you just as you are and make you into something new for his glory.
Ministry is messy. We are all messy.
What if the church decided who could come to the Lord and have the blessing of salvation?
It’s so easy to do. It’s so easy to judge people and make spiritual calls that we were never intended to make.
The Church of Corinth was struggling with this idea of everyone being on same level.
Scriptural Truths
1 Corinthians 11:17–18 ESV
17 But in the following instructions I do not commend you, because when you come together it is not for the better but for the worse. 18 For, in the first place, when you come together as a church, I hear that there are divisions among you. And I believe it in part,
1 cor 11:17
1 Corinthians 11:19 ESV
19 for there must be factions among you in order that those who are genuine among you may be recognized.
1 Cor 11:

Recognize the Lord’s Table is set for everyone through the power of the gospel.

God is no respecter of persons.
Everyone has a seat at the Lord’s table.
The Gospel saves a seat for everyone.
The Gospel saves a seat for everyone.
Romans 1:16 ESV
16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.
John 3:16 ESV
16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.
John
The Power of the gospel is it’s reach to ever person: rich, poor, bond and free.
Romans 1:16 ESV
For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.
Romans 1:16–17 ESV
For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith for faith, as it is written, “The righteous shall live by faith.”
It is the power that breaks every chain and every strong hold that would keep people from the God who loves them.
The story of opening up the church to those in need. Ministry is messy. A Deacon once said, “That ‘s what happens when you let in those people.”
Romans 1:
The church was using the Lord’s supper to recognize the rich and humiliate the poor.
1 Corinthians 11:20–21 ESV
20 When you come together, it is not the Lord’s supper that you eat. 21 For in eating, each one goes ahead with his own meal. One goes hungry, another gets drunk.
1 Cor 11:20-
1 Corinthians 11:22 ESV
22 What! Do you not have houses to eat and drink in? Or do you despise the church of God and humiliate those who have nothing? What shall I say to you? Shall I commend you in this? No, I will not.
1 Cor 11:
There were three types of people sitting at the Lord’s table:
The Glutton
The Drunk
The Hungry

Remember the Lord’s Supper is the power of our salvation.

Remember His Person
The body of our Lord broken for us.
1 Corinthians 11:23–24 ESV
23 For I received from the Lord what I also delivered to you, that the Lord Jesus on the night when he was betrayed took bread, 24 and when he had given thanks, he broke it, and said, “This is my body, which is for you. Do this in remembrance of me.”
1 Cor 11:23
The blood of the Lord spilled for us.
1 Corinthians 11:25 ESV
25 In the same way also he took the cup, after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.”
Proclaim His Passion
1 Corinthians 11:26 ESV
26 For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes.
1 Corinthians
Remembering the power of the Cross.
Remembering we are crucified with Christ.
My necklace, My Cross.
Galatians 2:20 ESV
I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
Exalt His Position
Christ is coming Again!!
We are to live in expectation of his coming.

Respect the Lord’s Supper or reap the consequences.

1 Corinthians 11:27 ESV
27 Whoever, therefore, eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty concerning the body and blood of the Lord.
1 Cor
Judge your status with God.
The unworthy manner is not considering the whole Body of Christ.
No one comes to the Lord’s table of their own merit.
We all come through the Body and Blood of Christ.
Judge your standing with God.
1 Corinthians 11:28 ESV
28 Let a person examine himself, then, and so eat of the bread and drink of the cup.
1 Cor 11:28
1 Corinthians 11:29–30 ESV
29 For anyone who eats and drinks without discerning the body eats and drinks judgment on himself. 30 That is why many of you are weak and ill, and some have died.
1 Cor
Pride and arrogance will brings discipline from the Lord.
Sickness and even Death
The Lord is serious about his table being open to everyone.
Don’t be a Glutton for Punishment.
1 Corinthians 11:31–32 ESV
31 But if we judged ourselves truly, we would not be judged. 32 But when we are judged by the Lord, we are disciplined so that we may not be condemned along with the world.
1 cor 11:
